The Pines of Rome...
I loved absolutely everything about this boutique hotel... The rooms were impeccable, the garden with pines was absolutely gorgeous and had the most incredible fragrance, the breakfast was delicious, and the staff was warm and welcoming. As a Romanian, I am unfortunately used to receiving all sorts of smirks and the worst types of condescending behavior in Italy but this definitely never an issue here. I could not imagine a better choice for staying in Rome. Highly recommended!!

Very pretty hotel but fails in the details
We arrived late at night and our bad was filled with hairs as if the bed sheets were not replaced and were told there is only one more room, im the basement floor.... the smell there was not so good to say the least, smelled like urine and cigarettes, the room was bigger and clean so we took it. The people at the hotel suggested we move to a room on the second night, we didn't since we didnt really have the power to move again... but it was nice of them.the bads are big but very hard and not so comfortable and the breakfast includes eggs, breads, cheeses and sausages.. not something to look forward too...I gave it 4 stars since for its price the rooms were very big, new, clean, great shower, lcd screen with many channels in english as well and it was also quite near to the metro.

Off the beaten track, elegant and affordable
We stayed at this hotel in mid-november when Rome was relatively less crowded. Even still, we wanted to stay at a more calm and peaceful location off the beaten track. This lovely hotel is located amongst embassies, parks and lovely villas. Although it is about a 12 euro ride from the centre of Rome, the metro station is only 5 minutes by walk and then all the tourist attractions are only a few stops/minutes away. The location of the hotel makes it more private and affordable. The staff is extra friendly and helpful. They always gave us the best of advise. We had read about the disappointing reviews regarding the breakfast buffet but were pleasantly surprised. Either they have improved since the previous reviews or we are easier to please customers. Either way, the breakfast was simple yet sufficient. The rooms were clean and comfortable. But the best part is to know that you got your money's worth and this hotel is definitely a better than fair match for its pricing. (for those who like to get their jog off the way even on vacation, there is an extremely beautiful park close by where all the local joggers go. Running in the gardens of a museum villa with ancient ruins on sight is a privilege.)

Devine Elegance
We had to book a hotel whilst staying at a lovely B&B in Tiscany but as they had no internet access we did it quickly whist we could get access at a cafe in Pisa.We found this lovely old charatcter hotel and were very happy to find the hotel was very exclusive and the room was just beautiful, the decor was devine and the bathroom all marble with a huge shower. The room was air conditioned, the hotel had a lovely garden where you could sit with a GT or beer after being out all day. Breakfast was included and bacon & eggs were enjoyed by my partner as he hadnt found that in Italy to that point.Staff were very attentive, nothing was too much and the rooms were spotlessly clean.The Metro was about a 15 minute walk away as well a supermarket nearby. The area was very upmarket although a little out of Rome, 3 train stops away from Roma Termini.The day we left there was a strike / protest in Romand everything grpund to a halt so a driver took us to the airport which was 35kms out of Rome, this was indicitive of the level of service we found at this hotel, nothing was too much trouble.We would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel

Disgusted with this hotel
We stayed for (3) nights September 2012 at a wopping E814.00 that is $1050 +tax for all you Canadians! This hotel claims to be a 4 star in the center of Rome. While if you consider a 10 minute walk to the metro, the 10 minute ride to Termini Station and a bus transfer of another 10-15 minutes in total 35-40 minutes in the center ok. We booked on venere.com upon arriving the hotel looks lovely and clean. We were checked into a Junior Suite in the back of the hotel which was nice in its day I am sure. We found it to be damp and musty, the phone didn't work and the pillows were stained with what looked like blood and some other body fluid. The shower leaked after every use and even had a rat enter while leaving on one evening. The staff were the least friendly and accomodating I have every witnessed and I am a advit traveller. After all the above they didn't even so much as apologize for the inconvenience. We wanted to check out after the 1st night and they held us to the booking saying they would not refund or even discount our rate even though we were moved to a much smaller room that had a less room rate than we originally booked.
