Basic hotel, fun bar
The hotel is simple but good. The rooms were an average size, and they were clean and comfortable. The staff were also very helpful with directions and recommendations. The location is very convenient - it's an easy walk to Trinity College, Grafton Street, and Dublin Castle, and you can walk to St. Patrick's and the Guinness Factory too if you don't mind a bit of a hike. And of course it's surrounded by loads of bars and clubs. The hotel bar is fun too - live music every night, decent pints and whisky tasting trays, and a very friendly bar staff. The noise level at night is pretty loud, especially Friday and Saturday. I'm a heavy sleeper (and we stayed out late anyway), so it didn't bother me a bit - but as others have said, you won't like it here if you have a problem with the noise.Overall it met our expectations, and we would definitely stay here again.

Great location, a bit noisy
We picked this hotel purely because of the location, and got our monies worth in that aspect. Whenever staying in a central location like this, noise is always an issue, so if you expect waking up to bird song after 8 hours of continuous sleep, this is not the place for you.My girlfriend and I arrived a bit earlier than the check in time, but were dealt with straight away without any questions. The woman at the desk struggled for several minutes finding my reservation, before finally finding a piece of paper confirming I had pre-booked. One should think it would be easier to have the whole system computerized, as it seemed like the reservations where put alphabetically in separate folders making it very time consuming to look through them all. In my case, the booking had been stored under my middle name, making it difficult to find, but as mentioned, a quick computer search must have been quicker. We were also charged our first night deposit twice, without really getting an explanation as to why, but we were repaid upon check out. This made the whole check out situation a bit messy and very time consuming. I can just imagine if more people tried to check in or out at the same time. After the check in, which probably took around 15/20minutes, we were shown to our rooms on the first floor. The room itself was clean and containing everything you need in a hotel like this. The bath was spacious and clean, and we also had a bathtub with shower. Our view was to the back yard, but since we did not request anything in particular, we could not expect anything else.Being located on the first floor, the sleep quality was challenged by noise, but as already mentioned, when you stay in temple bar, that is what you can expect. Being exhausted after a long day of sightseeing and with a couple of drinks we both fell asleep within a couple of hours, but none of us has ever found it particularly hard to fall asleep during noise. My father stayed on the second floor, and he claimed he did it hear anything at all, so if you have troubles falling asleep, request a room higher up.The breakfast was a disappointment. The eggs were soggy, and tasted of plastic, and the full Irish did not have black or white pudding. The beans however, were good for being on a hotel breakfast. The plates and glasses weren't very clean, and I often had to dig deep to find plates without food residues. This should be taken care of as it is not very appetizing. The Vat bar located on the premises is an excellent place for Pre and post dinner drinks and chat. With live traditional music in the weekends it really takes the place up a couple of notches, and secures a 4/5 review from me. Although not perfect, you more or less get what it says on the tin, and the Blooms hotel is a good option when wanting to stay in the Temple Bar area.P.S.: The check out was much faster, and we were repaid the money we were old. As we were not leaving Dublin for a couple of hours, the hotel offered to store our luggage for 2 euro per piece. That saved us from a lot of heavy carrying.

Great location - pretty basic
Stayed just one night in Blooms as my fianc¿¿ and I had an event in Dublin city centre that necessitated staying overnight. We were looking for somewhere near our event that wasn't extortionate and that's just what we got with Blooms. Thanks to other TA reviews I had armed myself with earplugs. The room was fine, basic, clean and rather too small for the double and single beds it contained. The TV reception was terrible but we weren't there to watch TV, we just needed a bed to sleep in for one night. Reception staff were courteous and efficient. The location of Blooms is simply excellent - central to everything. This does mean, as most other reviewers mention, a lot of noise in very poorly sound-proofed rooms. We were on the 4th floor but the noise from outside was every bit as loud as if we were on the ground floor. Also noise from inside the hotel is significant - you could hear every footstep in the room above and doors banging along the corridors. However the earplugs meant I slept very well - however the bed wasn't very comfortable and I woke in the morning with a sore neck and shoulder which persisted all day. The shower in the morning was fine in terms of pressure though the toiletries provided are very cheap and of poor quality. However, overall, we paid ¿¿¿69 for our room which included a voucher each for a free drink. Breakfast wasn't included at that price but that's not a problem given the location and the vast choice of places to eat nearby. We would definitely stay again for that price.

Hotel is good, but be ready for noise
The hotel is about as good as anything you could want. Clean rooms, clean bathrooms great location if you want to drink in Temple bar. But no kidding it's loud. So loud you can not sleep there. The noise is from the Temple bar guests, not the hotel guests. So if you plan to party late, this is a good place. If you want to go to bed at 10 bring ear plugs. No really do. It's so loud you have to adjust your tv to get over the music from outside.Hotel staff was from around the world and very good. Top notch staff. Bar service was slow. Had to walk from my table to get a drink from the bar. Bar staff is good but maybe understaffed when we went.

Location good....that's about it
Stayed here in late April 2013, first impression was poor as, like a lot of other travelers, we were greeted with a request for a 50 euro security deposit which is absolutely ridiculous. We have stayed at a lot of hotels, including a lot of much nicer ones and have NEVER been asked for this. The receptionist who we dealt with was rude and could not explain the reasoning for the deposit and since it was too late to relocate we reluctantly paid and checked into our room. The room was clean and was a good size but there seemed to be no soundproofing which is definitely needed in the Temple Bar district. We were unlucky and had a Hens party in the adjoining room who decided to continue their party upon return to the hotel at 3am. Thankfully the Night Porter is a very efficient man and quickly dealt with the noise so that was good. As some other people have stated, the hotel is fine if you're only using it to store your bags but i would not recommend if you want even one hours sleep. On a side note: Dublin is amazing and well worth the trip!
