Stress-free departure
So nice to just BE at Heathrow the morning of our departure. Your average Hilton--dependable comfortable. Annoying that WiFi is not free. I thought it was funny that you have to walk outside to get to the hotel entrance after walking through the tunnel from the terminal... would have been nice to have shelter from (frequent) rain, especially if you're schlepping luggage.

Small room but convenient location
Our room was on a low floor and overlooked the breakfast area so you looked over people having their food. Not very private. The covered walkway to the terminals would be handy if it were raining but expect a 15 minute walk. Breakfast was served early which is useful. Staff at check in offered little assistance.

A decent and convenient overnight stay
Interesting architecture...essentially a rectangle with erector-set style construction; internal atrium is huge and I wouldn't want the utility bill...all services in the open inner courtyard.here are the pluses:-very convenient to the airport- if you land in Terminal 5, there is a FREE shuttle van that will pick you up at the ARRIVALS area. It is a unmarked white van with signage in the window, Do not take the Hoppa bus which will cost you 4.50 pounds. There is another Hilton at the airport so make sure you go to the right one.-once you are at the hotel, you can walk the covered walkway to the terminal 4. After looking at the breakfast prices at the Hilton, we elected to take the walk and found a several places in the terminal to eat (even at airport prices, it was much more reasonable).-if you ask for an inside room facing the atrium, you are within the shell of the building and you will hear NO airplanes.-Wi-Fi is available in the public areas free.-room are small and nondescript but efficiently laid out- lots of outlets and the bathroom was above average; comfortable bed. ( I must say that the hotel does not have that musty smell many London hotels seem to acquire over time)-fitness center was better than many hotels- probably because they have a membership program as well so they have to maintain a certain competitive level.-desk staff was very helpful-busy place with many overnights being flight crews-pre-booking will shave the high tariff somewhatthe minuses--you need to take a cab or other transportation if you want to see anything- the hotel is completely surrounded by airport. If you are staying only for an overnight, not a problem.-priced higher than some surrounding properties but you are paying partly for convenience

Acceptable but not all it could be
I chose this hotel for convenient access to Terminal 4 for an early check-in. The covered walkway is several minutes' brisk walk - actually quite welcome before a flight, but not everyone's cup of tea. The atrium is most impressive, the room to acceptable Hilton standards with an excellent shower and toiletries, and the breakfast competent if not outstanding.The building is a little scuffed around the edges - lots of paint touch-ups noticeable - with some odd features. The lifts to upper floors open onto open walkways up to five floors above the atrium; quite interesting except to those prone to vertigo, who are advised to be ready to turn left or right and walk briskly for the lobby at the end!The gym is theoretically open 24 hours, but the main entrance is locked out-of-staffed-hours and it is then accessible down a compact stairwell on the south side (turn left when facing reception, from where it in not adequately signed) to a second entrance by room key card. The facilities look excellent; but I wanted 10 minutes on a treadmill to loosen up at the end of a long day; by the time I found my way to the second gym entrance, I'd had pretty much what I wanted!The famed Hilton "Magic 0" for customer service was seemingly never answered from the room phone, but exploratory pressing of other buttons eventually yielded responses, although room service managed to drop the line when we asked for some late-night sandwiches at what was presumably an inconvenient juncture.That said, when calls out were completed, the service was contrastingly good; the requested towel arrived with a second one, and the sandwiches arrived in under 15 minutes instead of the discouragingly forecast 30.The next morning, breakfast service was even keener, indeed to a fault; when my wife and I both chanced to go to the buffet together, our table was half-cleared (including an untouched pot of tea) before we returned. The breakfast area was not large, given the size of the hotel; I have noticed this at other Hiltons I've visited, too, but no other conveyed the same quiet underlying sense of frantic hurry. I wonder how much pressure the staff are under to turn over tables quickly?Conclusion; most of the staff are certainly keen to impress, and overall the place does its job acceptably; I would go there again if I needed to. The point is, for this brand and especially this price, every customer should be left _wanting_ to return, and this particular establishment is slightly wide of the high standards Hilton evidently aspire to. The building also seems to have been designed to impress, rather than to be pleasant and effective in use.

Pretty average
I wasn't impressed to find that the hotel had advised us when we rang them that this hotel,at T4,was a short walk through a walk way to T3, it isn't and in fact I could have stayed at virtually any hotel in the area with a shuttle bus service and got to T3 as quick. It's a several minute walk to T4, then a train ( every 8 minutes) to Heathrow central, then a further 5 minutes walk to departures, probably 25 minutes altogether. Don't try the tai either, it's ¿¿15! The room was average and dated, no hair dryer, ¿¿140 per night, distinctly average. in the lounges you get fleeced, a latte ¿¿4.30, pint of Guinness ¿¿6.00 ( incredible and not even dispensed properly) and a granola bar c ¿¿1.50 is pretty extortionate. It's only attribute is its convenience and even that depends on which terminal you are using.
