Fantastic Management
I had planned to stay there for a night with my boyfriend for a special occasion and after a few hours there, I felt sick, so sadly, we had to check out. I spoke to Lazara, front desk management who returned my calls promptly and gave us an opportunity to book the same room the following weekend, fully covered. Being a frequent traveller, I have yet to find management so helpful, efficient and friendly. I look forward to spending another night there!! The view from our corner suite on the 42nd floor was absolutely spectacular. My only complaint is that the bathroom is tiny and the tv is extremely outdated.

The Staff Tips this to a 5-Star
Welcomed by Lindsey at the front desk - outstanding service: fast, friendly and welcoming. We arrived late due to flight delaysand were concerned that we missed dinner - room service runs throughout the night. The room service was fast and the food was hot. One of the three nights, upon a late return, I ordered a pepperoni pizza - it was piping hot and delicious.I left a bag downstairs and the front desk called me and delivered it to my room - I thought the service was great. Needed a car and they had one waiting for me outside two minutes later - no complaints with service. The room doesn't get a five star on it's own. It was a bit dark and dungy. It was clean but with poor lighting, unattractive off white colors and a cracked shade on the wall lamp between the beds.On a positive note-The room was large and the ceiling was pretty high up making it feel even larger. I didn't spend much time in the room but when I was checking out I went through the drawers to make sure that I had everyting and made several pretty neat discoveries...I know there was a stove top, refrigerator and microwave but wasn't aware that also underneath were a clothes washer and dryer! Also theres a small drawer underneath the TV (bulky TV fairly small, not a flatscreen but It didn't really matter to me) there was a DVD player, a compter keyboard and othe gadgets. The bed was very comfortable. The room was pretty quiet and I slept well. The true test for myself is would I stay here again and I'd have to say YES. If I was in Toronto for an extended stay the kitchen and DVD player would be handy. On a final note - here's a tip and something I would do next time - it's a highrise building and I was on the 5th floor. The higher up you go, the better the view in this one.Hope this was helpful! Have a nice trip!.

great location
Stayed here with the DB on a little trip to toronto. The location is AWESOME if you want to explore toronto on foot, which we did. The downside is the entrance is on a little side street that is constantly clogged with cars. The parking was pretty expensive, but the doorman suggested parking a block away at an outdoor parking lot, which we did. The entrance is GORGEOUS. Very spacious, clean, and grand. Didn't get a chance to meet the staff as I wasnt the one checking in. A little confusing to navigate to the elevators, but managed to get to our room. The room is different from any hotel we've stayed at. (Long Distance Relationship- hotels are inevitable) We had a little kitchen which was convenient.. the front area was small, but the bedroom area burst into a high ceiling sunny area. Managed to get a corner spot with windows on each side. Very cool street view. I thought it was a little strange the bathroom was quite small,.. you couldn't fit two people in there at once. Bed was nice and big, but not the most comfortable. Overall, I don't think we would stay there again.. It was a nice hotel, but nothing really set it apart so much that we would scream it from the rooftops.

Nice but over priced
Nice historic property. Staff were great. Price is okay, but honestly as with most Toronto hotels - overpriced for ammenities compared to other world cities. I can stay at a truly 5 star in Vancouver or San Fran with unbelievable views a block from the water for same price. My room was good size and reasonably appointed, but quite dated. For $200/night one expects a bit better than a 20 inch tv from 1995. Both swim pools were out of service. The treadmills in the gym are good quality, as are the limited weights that are there but that is about the extent of the equipment. The gym cries out for a few weight machines and a tv, even if its one of the old cathode ray jobs from the rooms.

A cut below a roadside motel
In am stuck in this hotel for 4 days and am not pleased. Elevator area is soaked in old beer and smells awfully bad. Somewhere between and old tavern and a 30 buck motel. The room is equipped with a fully functioning 1990 t.v. (lol) I will not walk on the carpet without shoes for fear of contaminating myself. Drinking glasses in the room are dirty and have lipstick residue.....yuck.I paid for a superior room and am on the fifth floor overlooking an alley. They promote superior rooms as having beautiful lake and city views. An employee of mine was given a room on the 25th floor for less?I will spend the next 24 hours desperately looking for another hotel in Toronto. HELP! As a serious contributor to tripadvisor I want everyone to avoid this place like the plague! Maybe it is the plague? Hey Mr. Manager, I am in room 508 and it sucks.
