Great central hotel with helpful staff
This hotel is a grand old hotel very convenient fo the convention centre. I would recommend it as rates are good. It does not have a restaurant, or many services of better hotels - though the friendly front desk staff and concierge gave me ample recommendations on local supermarkets, restaurants and transport - this made all the difference. My room was very large with a bath which I always like as opposed to only a shower. The room itself was quite dark as facing a new build a few metres in front. I didn't mind though as in St Louis for a conference, though maybe I'd feel differently if a weekend away. Staff and location here made all the difference for me, and I liked the old world glamour feel, if in need of a little updating - it has more character than most refurbished or newer hotels.

Perfect location but needs some work on the inside
The hotel was pretty outside and in. Reminded me of the hotel from Ghost Busters 1. :) It was also located downtown close to the Busch arena where we came to see Manchester City vs. Chelsea!! When we checked in it was easy and fast-we had a nice room -small but just fine for a 1 night stay. I liked the large flat screen tv and coffee machine. The bathroom sink area was a tad bit small but we managed just fine. The bed was big, soft and comfortable. Everything was great until I was just looking through things in the room at what we had. I noticed we had a ice box holder and there was something in it. It had an OLD quizno's sandwich of some sort that has been in there for NO telling how long. It had mold-some kind of liquid in it as well. It SMELT horrible. My husband called the front desk to let them know and they quickly sent someone upstairs to get it. She was nice and took it and she her appologies and said she'd bring something back. We were thinking maybe something free of some sort I don't know. A gentleman brought back a replacement ice box holder and that was it. To me it was of bad taste to just replace it and thats it. That had been in our hotel room and obviously not properly cleaned like it needed to be. I was just curious after that what else wasn't properly cleaned. Other than that, the stay was pleasant. After we left I read reviews on the hotel and other people complained about the cleanliness. That stuck out in my mind that they have a problem. They must have a meeting about this issue and make sure their staff is cleaning everything properly. Just a side note-I was kind of dissapointed they didn't serve breakfast. All the other locations we've stayed at have had breakfast served every morning.

Family trip
Excellent location, service and food. Awesome location for Six Flags, Grants Farm and everything else in between. A separate sitting room while the kids go to sleep, and have fun as adults do on vacation. Major plus.

Historic Hotel - Good enough
We stayed here at the end of April 2013 while attending an event at the America's Center/Edward Jones Dome. The place was clean, the staff was friendly, and the rooms were generous/large. As a Historic hotel, it was missing some of the amenities of more modern hotels. There was no breakfast/food/bar in the hotel, the elevators were somewhat slow, etc. In all, our experience was positive and we would stay here again. It was convenient to Metrolink and the venue we were going to. Several in our group had larger rooms that included two double beds in a separate room from a seating area which included a pull out couch. The rooms were large and easily slept 4 people. It's certainly not 'luxury' in anyway if you are looking for somewhere fancy to stay. However, it's a clean hotel, with nice staff, located conveniently in St Louis.

Ok room, poor customer service
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The first night we had major noise issues with the guests in the room next door. When we tried to call the front desk, 1 phone in the room was not plugged in and the other one just received a busy signal. I had to use my cell phone to call the hotel! We called twice, and no one came upstairs either time to check on the noise. Long story short, we had a horrible nights sleep and the hotel staff showed no regard. Also, this hotel has NO parking. We were required to walk 4 blocks to a parking garage that costs $16/night.
