We visited the restaurant on a Saturday evening , we arrived at about 8:20 for our booking at 8:30 bought a round of drinks and informed the barman that we had booked a table, he said he would check on it for us, and was back in a couple of minutes with a tray to take us along with our drinks to our table.We had two starters which arrived and were very tasty, we had three different main courses which were accompanied by salads and chips for two of the main courses and boiled and roast potatoes and vegetables for the other two main courses everything that should be hot was the salad was fresh and crisp. We finished of with two different sweets, everyone in the party said that they had enjoyed their food. The staff were pleasant and attentive we all agreed that we had very enjoyable evening and would visit again.

We stayed over for one night, had lovely room, comfy bed, nice bathroom, what more would you want. Definatley stay over again. The owner Allen cudn't do enough for us and was helpful throughout our stay.

Stayed for one night en route for Scotland (and have done many times before). A wonderful experience. Allen and Grace, the hosts, are cheery and helpful. The bedrooms are small but cosy and clean. The pub grub is fine, I had large fried haddock chips and peas and wife had the salmon, both great. Oddly all the bottles of wine are the same price - we took the Spanish red which was excellent. We like eating in the bar rather then the restaurant, but the food is the same anyway.Breakfast can be (large) traditional bacon eggs etc, but we just ask for eggs and brown toast - no problem - whatever you want; an extra egg perhaps?There is no lift and all the rooms are on the first floor, so you must be able to climb a flight of stairs to stay there.This was not our first stay there and all have been happy events. We intend to continue using it on our travels up and down the country.

We were here for a family members christening and we were so disappointed by pub and the rude manager who never smiled at his guests! the lay out of the room was awful the buffet was up in a corner and the staff had to walk past small children with hot food very dangerous especially when the manager refused to provide hot water for the mums to warm up baby milk! just a very awkward man running this place not friendly at all! He did give the option of using his filthy microwave! But in the end mums had to use pots of tea to warm milk in! Dirty towels and dirty bars of soap to wash hands with! It is supposed to be a very family friendly village pub but it's far from this! Play area very run down and dangerous, poor quality food I would never go here again!

My wife and I have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Egerton Arms and thoroughly enjoyed it. The owners, Allen and Grace were extremely friendly and helpful, as were all of the other staff the we met. The room was very comfortable, with a 6ft double bed and cosy duvet, and the ensuite was immaculate, with loads of hot water for the bath and shower, and lovely fluffy towels. We ate in on all three nights that we stayed, twice in the bar (as the dining room had been booked for functions) and in the dining room on the last night. The menu is the same in both. We both really enjoyed our meals, and the staff were quite happy to let us select "non standard" combinations of things from the menu eg. salad in place of veg. The Beef Bourguignon from their specials menu was to die for, as were the crispy roasted spuds. The menu isn't huge, probably a good sign, but plenty of variety and the meals that we had were well cooked and presented. As for the full english breakfast - wow! just a snack bar for lunch was adequate after that.Whilst there we visited Little Moreton Hall, just 3 miles down the road, an absolutely fascinating Tudor Manor House dating from the early 1500s - do take the guided tour that they offer, very interesting and informative. At the other end of the stately pile scale we also spent the day at Lyme Park House and Garden, about 15 miles away. An enormous mansion set in a huge park and very well worth a visit.
