really pleasant, not fabulous but good.The rooms are a good size with a full bathroom, bath with shower over, bidet etc. There is a mini bar and safe to. AC is a bit noisy if I am being picky.Ther is a limited gym, treadmill, elliptical, two bikes a couple of weights machines and some hand weights. The beach is 5 minutes maximum walk just across a busy road but there is a crossing. You can walk for mile son the beach or hire a bike from the hotel and enjoy the city that way although ¿¿¿25 per day is a little steep. It is still worth itWould I stay again? Yes.The breakfast is really quite good, no english cooked but everything else really

Awesome hotel
First off this hotel is hard to find, especially at 11pm at night and in the rain. However once we did arrive we were pleased (partly because we were soaked). The hotel is about a 10 min walk from the metro. Walking towards the hotel is very residential. There are a few small restaurants and a school but that's about it. So when you go out for the day, be sure to eat or bring snacks. The hotel does have a restaurant and bar (and its good) but its pricey. The hotel very much feels like it caters to business customers which is fine by me. The room is decent size and updated/modern. The best park of the hotel is that it's directly across the street from the beach. It's gorgeous to get up in the morning and take a walk there. Also the tourist hop on/ hop off bus stops across the street by the beach and around the corner from the hotel.I personally l like being a bit away from the city center (it's about 15 mins by metro). At night it's quiet.I'd say my biggest complaint with the hotel is that there is no free wifi. What a pain!Also near the metro and over a few blocks we discovered a mall and Restaurants. Also while on the beach about a 15 min walk down there is a McDonald's. We didn't walk there but it seemed doable from the hotel.

Third Return Visit
Just returned back from our third stay at the Atenea Mar and 3 years since our last visit. Hotel as good as our previous visits and they had no issues upgrading us to a Deluxe room overlooking the beach for a small nightly charge when we requested a change. Staff in restaurant in the main were superb and remembered us from our previous visits and it was most pleasing to see the advancement in their knowledge and provison of gluten free food for my wife who is a Coeliac. It must also be said that "sin gluten" is now a well recognised phrase across Spain much more so than in the UK or other European countries.

Very nice clean room.
I booked the room through Hotwire.com got a good deal. you won"t be disapointed in the location, unless you want to be in the middle of town. Persons at desk helpful. Nice view. only about a block to On Off Barcelona Bus Turistic stop. Be sure to keep your receipt if you are on a cruise you can get 10% off on other ports if you show this receipt, look in the coupoun book they give you when you purchase ticket.

Excellent beach side hotel
We stayed here from 29 December 2012 to 2 January 2013 and totally enjoyed it. Well appointed rooms and great views of the coast. The underground car park is very secure with loads of space for the biggest of cars.The bus to and from the centre is right next to the hotel although buying a multi day pass can only be done at a Metro station which is a pleasant 15 minute walk away.
