Welcome to Fawlty Towers

Well, first of all I must say that all of our dealings with staff on reception were very good - they were pleasant and helpful, check in went well, map of Rome included, contacting shuttle transfer for our return to the airport - all good.Room - bathroom was clean and looked recently refurbished, shower gel, soap, shower caps and vanity kits included. Beds were hard and not too comfortable but plenty of pillows, air conditioning wasn't the best, fridge provided but empty and there were no tea/coffee making facilities provided - quite disappointing for a 'four star' hotel.Breakfast - access to the breakfast room was via a lift that sounded on it's last legs - we did try to take the stairs but you didn't always come out where expected. Now the fun begins! Breakfast - I have never experienced anything quite like it. If you are looking for your first refreshing cup of tea (due to lack of tea making facitilities in your bedroom) forget it. The 'hot' water available was left in a jug similar to the ones they used to serve your custard in at school - big metal ones with no lid - luke warm water is no good for a cup of tea. The quality of food served wasn't bad it was just trying to get some. We stayed for four nights and at every breakfast there was a shortage of something - no bread, no bacon, no cheese, no water etc. etc. One morning I buttered my bread with a spoon handle due to the lack of knives - I hope you are getting the picture. There was a man running around like a headless chicken getting nothing done and a lady who resembled Nancy Del'Olio floatiing around doing well, I'm not sure what she was doing!I must say on the last morning of our stay there was a young man taking charge of proceedings who appeared to have some sort of system going - there were glasses for your fruit juice instead of plastic cups and there was a plentiful supply of coffee (still no hot water!)It is a real shame really as we found the location of the hotel to the Vatican to be really good - 20 minute stroll.This is definitely not a four star hotel - nowhere near and I don't think we would stay here again if we return to Rome but we did have a great time regardless - weather was hot and sunny and we spent most of our time out and about making the best of our time hopping on and off the open top buses visiting all of the fantastic sights.

Overbooked!

At check in we were told that they couldn't accommodate us (without much explanation). We were sent to another hotel of much lower quality and in a completely different part of town (25 minutes by taxi). We had made the reservation weeks in advance and booked this hotel because of the location near the Vatican. We ended up having to walk to get to a train station, to get to a metro to get anywhere. Very very disappointed. After reading reviews, I realize it has happened to a lot of other travelers.

very dissapointed ...avoid this hotel

first off all this is not a 4 star hotel . too bad of the location of this filty and dump hotel ...Creaky and hard bed, the bathroom was dirty and unusable, poor breakfast , dust all over the hotel, wi fi and tv didn't worked as well as the so called refrigerator

Do Not Come Here Under ANY Circumstance

We booked a holiday for my wife's 40th birthday. I even phoned in advance to make sure a (paid for) bottle of Vino will wait for her on arrival.When we got there (at 13:00 PM, having been on our feet since 04:00 AM), we found that our room, among many other issues, had: creaky and hard bed, no latch on the door, broken fan\AC, no hot water, no television and a moldy ceiling. And of course - no vino. The staff (apart from one) where plain rude and dismissive. After countless promises and plain lies on making sure we will have our matter resolved (including one of the manageresses telling us that hot water is not that important in Rome as we should concentrate on sightseeing, not on showering!), we finally had enough.We went online and booked a peach of a hotel, 10 minute walk from the Vatican, costing near enough half of the Nova Domus charge.To sum up, if you are willing to forgo basic holiday requirements such as a comfortable bed, hot water and good service, then by all means book this hotel. Otherwise avoid at all costs -YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED - AND YOU CAN TAKE THIS PROMISE TO THE BANK!!

great roman holiday

we stayed here for the weekend of our daughters eighteenth birthday, we had asked for a cake to be ordered for her as a surprise. on arrival we found a lovely bouquet of roses and lilies from the staff left in our room. our daughter was delighted. our room was very comfortable although a bit dated but as we were hardly in there it was ideal. the beds were comfy and the room was clean. breakfast was lovely with wonderful fresh pastries and breads. It is only a short walk from the Vatican so easy to get back to after a tiring day. We would not hesitate to go back as the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had booked an evening tour and they contacted the company a couple of times for us to make arrangements for lifts etc. They also did get us a great cake and delivered it to our room as requested with no hassle. Superb.
