Quiet, super modern, bit of a walk to centre
This hotel is run well -- helpful desk staff. 10-15 minute walk to Sagrada Familia which is fine going out in the morning, but uphill on the way home at night. (Wouldn't recommend to single female travellers unless you're happy getting a taxi back at night for this reason.) From Sagrada Familia it's a metro ride into the centre of town and much further to the Olympic area, beach, castle and parks. The upside is that it's in a decent and quiet neighbourhood.Breakfast was good -- wide selection of fruit, cereals and hot food. Rooms are basic no frills; no kettle/tea/coffee in the room, but bottled water is free. Wifi was good, safe box worked, large fridge.Good for business trips and weekend breaks.Only downside was that we were freezing at night; bed was sparsely covered. Tried turning aircon/heating up to 25 degrees but it just blew out cold air all night. Order an extra blanket from reception if you stay out of season.

Noise and terrible service no trade off for great price.
We spent 4 nights at this hotel, ignoring the negative reviews like several others as it seemed too good a price. But now we realise we should have listened to them! The walls are so thin, we could hear clearly what someone outside on the street, standing below the closed window was saying (2 am), people talking in the corridor and even in the room above and below. Our room faced the street and over the weekend the traffic was almost incessant and very noisy. A lack of carpeted floors added to the noise. We slept really badly all 4 nights even after returning exhausted after full days of sightseeing. The location is convenient. The room was small but comfortable, and the bathroom was great, although the bath was not cleaned properly on subsequent days. I am not a troll and would have been pleased to write a great review. But there's no point unless it is truthful We wanted some tea brought to the room in the morning and eventually discovered that is only available after 11 am (presumably after breakfast was over in the restaurant). It was obvious they were running with skeleton staff. The front office service gets mixed reviews from us: The young man who checked us (in the afternoon of the 4th) was reserved but generally ok. There was a young lady (daytime on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th) who was very nice (sorry - didn't find out her name, perhaps a student working part-time?) and very helpful with our questions about transport, tickets, etc. She showed no annoyance or frustration with us (two mature sisters who spoke no Spanish). But the raspberry award for service goes to the man who was on service Saturday evening (6th), and early this morning (8th) when we checked out. We could not believe the treatment we received from him, Our first experience with him was when we asked him where the Gaudi Museum was. He denied its existence and said he knew nothing about it. But the best was yet to come..This morning, we went to have tea in the restaurant at 6 30 am (they offer an 'Early Bird tea/coffee service between 5 and 7am). It was still dark and although there was no one else around, someone had already started laying out the breakfast buffet. When we called out, only a kitchen staff member responded in Spanish, who could not understand us. We asked the man at the front desk if we could get a cup of tea before checking out and he said he was having problems with the computer system and was on the phone. He said there should be someone to serve us. I asked if we could serve ourselves some tea and he shrugged his shoulders. We went back to the restaurant and then he came charging into the restaurant, shouting loudly in Spanish (we thought it seemed like cursing),and crashed through some doors at the side creating a massive amount of noise. We were shocked and perplexed at this reaction. He returned with half a cup of black coffee and a cup of hot water (which I requested instead of tea). We drank quickly and went to check out. The system seemed fine by then and he seemed to have calmed down. We paid the tax and left. This was the end to an otherwise wonderful first impression of Barcelona. We are looking forward to returning to an elegant and beautiful city with people we thought were friendly and helpful. But we will never stay at this hotel again nor recommend it even to our worst enemies. It was absolutely the worst hotel experience we have ever had. We would rather have paid more and stayed at a more friendly, welcoming hotel. I wish we had heeded of the negative reviews!

Confortel Bel Art - excellent value, clean, but very noisy
I could hear my neighbour snoring in his bed and every time someone went past the corridor , there was so much noise that it would wake me up. To make matters worse, the staff started cleaning rooms around my room around 8:30 and shouted and chatted loudly to each other. So basically I had very little sleep for the first night of my stay and then I bought some ear plugs and managed to sleep the next days. If you want to stay here, I only recommend it if you are not a light sleeper OR if you have some good earplugs with you!

Something bad, something good
I was in Confortel bel art an a one week. The lobby was nice designed, but the rooms wasn't exactly what i expected them to be. if They say that they are four star hotel. I touhght that then the rooms should be also that rate(?). Room was litlle bit stuffy and it was also little bit dirty (chewing gum in a lamp etc.) And from the corridor you can hear almost everything (That is not nice if you want to sleep little bit longer in the morning.) Anyway, the staff was kind and helpful. Breakfast was nice and comprehensive and it cost about 9 ¿¿¿ (if not included in a hotel price) Metro was near. I recommend this hotel if you don't want to spent time in a hotelroom. :) Then these things doen't bother (but in a morning time :) )
