Spent 3 nights here in March 2013 on a Groupon deal. at the time of booking I had requested a riverview room and was advised of a surcharge for upgrade of 15 euros per night. However on checkout I was charged 75 euros. I queried it at the time but its embarrassing in an open reception area to get into a squabble over a bill. Despite numerous communications the hotel has rejected my version and has offered a "complementary upgrade" on my next visit. What a joke!! The hotel is nothing special and its main feature is its location on the river bank so they really shouldn't be charging extra for these rooms but allocate on 1st come basis. When we stayed there weren't that many guests and as such riverview rooms wouldn't have been in high demand. The restaurant only opens at weekends so you eat in the bar area which is a bit drab and lacks atmosphere.I got a bill from my phone provider for using the "free wi-fi" in our room however they refunded this when I explained the set up and assured them that i had only used the designated log-on.The upshot of all this is that I won't be taking up their "complementary upgrade" and would advise anyone going there to get written confirmation of additional charges before travelling.

The location is spot on and the entrance area is beautiful. I checked in late and the reception staff were still bright and helpful, giving me a map and not once suggesting I couldn't bring my racing bike up to my room, which I had feared would happen.Walking up to my room I felt that the designer of the interior had been very clever with space. This is a building which does not waste areas. The room was compact, but bright and clean. The one complaint I have is that the whole building, particularly the corridors, was too hot for me. I slept with both windows open as there was no visible heat switch in the room.The breakfast menu is promising, but I was disappointed with the result. I had scrambled eggs with smoke salmon and the egg was solid with the bread soggy. The crusts, my favourite part, had been cut off too. I ate it because I'd paid for it and needed the protein, but I personally won't be ordering anything but a simply poached egg and bacon, perhaps, next time.One other issue is the WiFi. iPads are not renown for getting great signal, but even in the communal areas I got nothing and I noticed three girls working off laptops with their own dongles in the lobby.

What can i say Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant My Family and i all 14 of us stayed at the Ballina Manor Hotel for 3 Nights from booking in at reception to leaving the hotel staff and management were friendly helpful professional at all times a rarity to find all three in one hotel. the food was was 1st class we had booked in on a B&B only basis however we had our evenong meal on two nights one in the restaurant and one in the bar all the meals were served at the same time and was of excelent quality even though on the 2nd night they were only given 20,mins notice we wanted to eat and the manager in the bar nothing was to much trouble seating us all on the same table the bar man and the manager pulled out all the stops serving drinks taking down the orders serving hot food all with a smile. due to this fantastic stay we are all ready planning to go back again this year if we can if not then we will be back in April 2014 I must just mention the security guard who had the biggest smile and was so helpful when i needed those extra tea bags and milk for a cuppa THANKYOU the town in Ballina has some wonderful shops so take your cards Olivers menswear brilliant for that shirt you have allways wanted Bettys just over the bridge known for her friendliness and broxty Cakes yummy I actually had tears on my last day when i went to say goodbye to Betty with my yorkshire tea towel in fact i cried leaving Ballina as I left my coulkin Family behind and all our new friends including Father Jerry who said some preyers at my fathers grave side on a very cold saturday afternoon I could go on forever about the best pint of Guinness THE FANTASTIC SHOPPING BUT TRY IT FOR YOURSELF YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPOINTED.

was just on a flying visit,got there late so really only slept and left early next morningbut the room was clean and the staff were friendly.good value to.its also located in the centre of the town. i didnt get a chance to eat there but breakfast is included

We arrived late after a long drive and confused the Ballina Hotel with the Ballin a Manor Hotel. First impression was disappointing. Set on the corner in the centre of town we were told the car park is full, however you can park safely on the street. Our room seemed a long walk from the elevator, strike 2. We finally reached our room and opened the door. Inside it was warm and comfortable with a room that overlooked the river Moy.We then went to the bar as it was getting late and ordered dinner. Two lovely steaks arrived with the trimmings and a lovely bottle of Australian Shiraz. All was forgiven!! We slept well after our delicious meal and woke up on the sunday morning to see two fishermen standing in the river bravely, (it must have been freezing in the water) trying to catch a salmon. Then to the restaurant for breakfast, a good choice, yum!! Time to pay the bill and the pleasant young man on reception was very courteous and gave me a route to facilitate our onward journey. Altogether a pleasant experience.
