If you are happy to have a room with no natural light then this is the place for you. Great if you just want a bed then spend all your time outside. Did I mention the grand hollywood entrance with built in smoke machines? Ohh that was staff around the disabled entrance because people in wheelchairs want to passivley smoke. On a positive note get your breakfast included and this is good value and we would probably return for that reason alone.

At only ¿¿29 for B&B it does seem to good to be true and that is exactly what it is. In its day this hotel must have been stunning but apart from the communal areas is very badly in need of some attention. The room was very dated which probably gave the feel that the room was dirty and dull although we did not investigate this further in case that was the fact, the bathroom was small and tired and like the bedroom had a dirty feel to it. We were fortunate to have a window in our room although it did not completely close properly and was extremely draughty and meant we had to keep the curtains closed, god only knows what the rooms (cells) with no windows in the basement were like . The breakfast is probably the worst we have ever had. Breakfast starts at 7.30am and we sat down at 7.45 so you would think everything would be fresh, not the case, the bacon could have doubled as shoe leather, the fried bread needed a chisel to cut it and coffee as weak as water, together with the waiter clearing everything immediately we I had finished and I mean immediately, even before my wife had finished. I fully understand that the best ingredients would not be used but at least cook what you have properly. I fully understand that the price is extremely cheap and enticing but would urge anyone to pay a little more for a B&B in scarborough and not waste there money here. We were booked in for a second night at the end of the week but could not face it again so came home early.Please redecorate and attend to all the faults i.e all the chipped woodwork and paintwork, which is extensive and generally give a lighter more pleasant feel to the place which at the moment is quite depressing, the building deserves it.

whats up with people always on the moan this is a cheap hotel what do you want if you want 5 stars go to one,the girl on the desk was spot on no faults with her at all people should get a life and stop moaning , breakfast was nice the sausages was good, and hot as well ,if you want a good room ask for a upgrade you might get a free upgrade, we had a good view fab dident want to leave will be back 3 more times this year

went here last night, we booked into penthouse suite which was ok, dated but okwent for evening meal and it was terrible, honestly it was fit only for my dogs, i complained to manager, a skinny little boy with a terrible attitude, he simply told us if we where not happy then leave, as it was nothing to him either way,,, we chose to leave, we asked for a refund of the 95 pound we had paid and was told he didnt have the athority, and will have to contact head office.... it was our anniversary and was worse night ever, ................. i will never stay again and warn other ppl to re think. i have never wrote a bad review in my life, but had to warn ppl

Me and my friend stayed for one night at The Grand Hotel, and I am so glad it was just the one! Checking in was easy and quick enough, but the receptionist failed to inform us that our room was in the basement, so we were walking around for a while before another guest had to help us find our room. Where our room was placed seemed to be so out the way, it felt like if anything happened that no one would even know we were there! We booked a double club room for ¿¿24, but I honestly wouldn't pay that knowing what I know now. There was no window in our room, obviously, and the radiator was on full blast with a fan placed on top of the television also on full blast. The radiator got switched off straight away because the room was stuffy enough. The bathroom also smelt like someone had just used it. We figured out that it must have been coming through the extractor fan. Sure enough we got 3 towels, but the glasses on the sink had lipstick marks on them. There was also a huge spider in the bathroom, and as someone who hates spiders, I was repulsed.The television was also so low on the ground that you couldn't see it from the bed, and all five channels were fuzzy. The room, in short, was depressing. After going back to our room after a night out, guests near to our room were screaming at each other, and started knocking on our door at 4am! Surely security should have heard all this commotion? Speaking of security, we forgot our key card and had to plead with them to let us back into the hotel, even though we had our actually key and receipt with us. 2 hours sleep in total, we got because of that. Doors slamming all night from other rooms, too. We never managed to get breakfast because of the sheer amount of people there, but after reading some other reviews I think that's a good thing. I have to agree with others also about the small lifts and sort of musky smell. Not good.
