NOT a Four-Star Hotel
This is NOT a four-star hotel. I stayed here on 5/12/13 with my wife on our honeymoon for one night; however, to put things in prospective, we had stayed at the Fairmont the prior two nights (for those that don't know, the Fairmont is, well, baller). My biggest gripe with this hotel was that the shower backed up. That's right, the shower backed up in a supposed four-star hotel. What a joke. Ordinarily, I would have complained and switched rooms but we had already settled in and we were only staying for one night before heading up to wine country. My next biggest gripe was that the hotel staff was unfriendly, unwelcoming and completely void of personality. The woman at reception was almost completely unhelpful. Perhaps the hotel manager should just replace the reception staff with computer screens and vending keycard machines since the experience would be the same. The bartender was certainly unfriendly and possibly incompetent. My wife and I ordered delivery from Mission Chinese and since the delivery guy failed to bring us any utensils, I asked the bartender for some plastic forks. Without a word (and certainly without a smile), he picked up a single plastic fork and placed it on the bar in front of me. Thus, he could neither 1.) hand the fork to me, nor 2.) discern that I needed two forks despite the fact that I had asked for "forks" and my wife was standing right next to me.In addition, I would like to point out that this hotel is a sprawling maze and its endless hallways contain, for some mysterious reason, narrow doorways which are covered in marks from people wheeling their suitcases through them. It gives this hotel a distinctive "motel" feel. I don't remember seeing these marks at the Fairmont.

Absolutely fine with great location
As all reviewers agree this Sheraton has a great location. With regards to the decor if you have a love for mid-century decor, you will appreciate the fact that they did not update the fun and whimsical decor of the common areas. Delighted to find comfortable beds, clean room and very much welcomed as a Starwood guest. Not sure how the other rooms would be otherwise.

Tolerable but not great
We arrived late in the evening to a seamless check in. Went to our room it was warm tried to find thermostat finally located it in the unit in the window a very dated unit with hot and cold options. Beds are tolerable but the mattresses are not comfortable. Went to breakfast in the morning $25 buffet. We just wanted to get something to drink and plan our day. I was asked to leave the restaurant because they didn't serve single items. I could go to coffee shop out front. The coffee shop outside front desk it is very busy in the morning and very loud chattering in the area didnt seem like the place for my son and I to plan our day. The next morning I woke up with a headache at 5 am went to bell desk he advised me to go down a block or so to the 7-11. Fortunately, I knew is was closed for construction. I had walked past it earlier that day. He let me know the safeway would open at 6 two blocks away...Went back to bed. Tried to take a bath the tub didn't work. Called maintenance he said he would fix it while we were out today. That made me feel better since my head hurt so bad all I wanted to do was take a bath. Last day before we left I called down to arrange airport transportation I was informed it was very busy on Friday night $80 for a cab $100 for a car. I looked through my travel book and called a car for $60...I guess the other $40 was for him? Went down to get our checked bags two guys standing by themselves at concierge desk Asked if they could help I said here to pu our bags. He said appreciate you waiting for bell staff.. lmao..they work at the same desk..Walked out the front with our suitcases the bellman waived me down to the end of the block???? I guess he was upset we didn't use his car service. What a joke..I told him so. My wife booked on Priceline for 145 per night..Give yourself a break spend the extra 25 night get a real hotel.

Excellent location in an expensive city
We stayed two nights at an absolutely good rate in this centrally located hotel and enjoyed it throughout. We had one of the refurnished rooms with nice contemporary furniture, rather large rooms (just the lamps did not fit together, each one of a different style). The bathroom however is rather small.Check-in was a breeze and the included parking in Fisherman's wharf a real advantage. The hotel is walking distance to very good hotels and entertainment. The coffee shop was not very attractive, so we had breakfast at the Best Western property next door, which was excellent.Complimentary internet is provided only in the reception and hall area, in the guestrooms you pay 15.00 per day - the only hotel for our whole tour through California that does charge for internet in your room.

Great location and clean room
Room was comfortable except mattress needed to be updated. Small bathroom with very little counter space. No free wi-fi in rooms. Internet in business center was VERY SLOW. There is a charge to use the computers except to print boarding passes. Great location--walking distance to Pier 39 and cable cars.
