Great Staff, Suite is not big
In short: Very friendly and helpful staff. If I get a room with wired internet, I would stay here again.I had booked a "suite" with two double beds and a sofa bed, theoretically six people could sleep here. While for me alone there was plenty of room, I've had rooms of almost like size (but not as nice looking) in cheap motels. I would not recommend more than two people for this room, or maybe three.The location was great for my purpose, within walking distance of Moscone West. Sadly, the wireless internet was not fit for the number of users, the performance was poor. I was put in contact with their tech support, but they can't change physics. Only upon checkout I learned that the rooms on the second floor have wired internet. Next time, I will make sure to get one of those rooms.The "Customer Burger" restaurant downstairs makes what the name says, I tried the salmon burger and liked it. For a hotel restaurant the price was good.BTW, there was no fridge in my room, but I did not miss it. If you come here in a hot summer you might miss an A/C. But in mid-May I did not miss it at all. Walking around town I actually needed a sweater.Bed was comfortable. I did not have the time to check out the fitness facility and pool. I did not bring a car, but I think parking would have cost extra. BART and other public transpor is close by.

First visit of San Francisco
The Front desk clerk, Mika was very helpful in choosing our city tour. She provided us with many choices and explained the difference between all of them. Also, everyday she made sure that we enjoyed our stay.

poor service
I tried to call the front dest, but even can't find the hotel number on the key cover. Finally I searched online and found it, but the front dest on duty at noon on May 9,2013 wasn't frendly and unwilling to help. The person who cleaned my room threw my personal stuffes and denied.

Breakfast at the Americania
We recently stayed at the Best Western Americania on 7th Street, San Francisco.We were pre-booked through our travel company so were somewhat mystified when the receptionist asked us if we wanted to upgrade. The charge would be $20 for the first night and $30 for the second night. On declining this offer we decided to stay in the original room. On hearing this the receptionist said we could have the upgrade foe $20 both nights and we accepted. The upgrade room was no better than any other hotel we had stayed at over our two week tour so we complained when checking out. The acting Manager then said he would not charge us the extra for this room.We were also charged in excess of $25 per night for parking the car !! I think hotels should not charge guests for parking.

Ticks all the boxes
This hotel really does tick all the boxes: It's a $40 cab ride from the airport, but the BART is also an option. From the minute we arrived the staff made us very welcome. The general area around the hotel isn't too astethically pleasing but don't let that take you away.The hotel is motel style with rooms opening out onto balconies. The hotel apparently had been renovated in the past few years as a 60s style and that seemed to be the case. The rooms are in great condition and are well decorated. There is a gym and pool although I didn't use it so I can't comment. There was no issue with clenliness.The hotel is approx 1km walk from Union Square (15minutes), it's also right next to the F tram line which links Castro (Gay area), Market Street and Fishermans Wharf. It's right next to City Hall too which is worth a visit. The one health warning is that it's near the Tender Loin district, I would advise not walking alone at night. During the day is absolutely fine. There is a good diner in the hotel which has a lovely reasonably priced breakfast.Overall, the hotel is reasonably priced and is certainly somewhere I'd go again.
