I visited the Holiday Inn in Pudong for 12 days in April 2013. Here's the headline: it's OK. It's clean, safe, and convenient, which is everything you usually want. But at the prices they were charging (roughly US$200 a day), I expected a whole lot more. So in terms of value for price paid, this hotel falls short.Let's start with the good features. The hotel is modern, spotlessly clean, and everything works as it should. The shower has good pressure and lots of hot water. There's WIFI everywhere in the hotel, plus very good high-speed wired connections in the rooms. There are three elevators and their speed was good. The check-in staff was very helpful and -- unlike RandallT's experience -- when I had a problem with my reservation they fixed it quickly and graciously. The bellhops found a package I had received quickly and accurately, loaned me an umbrella and got me taxi's when required. There is a luggage rack in the room. The windows open (a good thing, because at this time of year the A/C is not available.) The TV got 12 channels and that worked fine as well.On the downside, the room looked a little worn to me; a foosty smell in the bathroom (but no mold that I could find); carpets a little thin; the bed sagged a bit. The modern, flat-screen TV was housed inside a massive wooden armour that previously sheltered a big, traditional TV. (Come on, guys -- get rid of the old furniture if you don't need it!) Plus, there was a large, old-fashioned couch blocking the view out the window -- a nice armchair would have fit the room much more nicely. And the music throughout the hotel repeated endlessly -- every morning about 6:30 I listened to "Ave Maria" and in the restaurant I heard the same pop tunes while munching on my eggs. These are minor things really, but detracting from the overall experience. As "Philippe S" summarized, everything simply is very average.Breakfast was $21 a day, and you MUST get the breakfast because there are no local shops or restaurants that I could find within walking distance. The staff was very nice, but the food was only adequate and the coffee only of "acceptable" quality. There is an Irish pub in the hotel. You walk through the back of the breakfast restraurant to get to it. It is dark, dingy, inadequately equipped, poorly staffed and thoroughly unattractive. I would not suggest eating there, although I was able to get a Guiness that brightened my day.I would disagree with "Eric_Woelkers" about the great location. it's a long, 15-minute walk to the #4 line metro station. This is primarily a residential area, with massive apartment blocks surrounding the hotel. Consequently, there are very few neighborhood restaurants within walking distance (that I would trust). I did get a great haircut at a local barber shop; and the Lotus Grocery Store that backs up to the hotel had wine, foods, and everything I needed for my exhibition, so that's convenient.So what's the bottom line? Overall, sure, I would stay here again, if I needed to. But if a better option was available, I'd jump at it in a moment.

Taxi is unaware of the hotel location, took long time to reach hotel though it is said that hotel is only 30-40 minutes away from airport. After checked in for a while, we asked to change from a king room to twin room on 12th April midnite, a short guy at the reception gave a sacarstic smile and said coldly " no twin room", left us alone for a while. Finally, after we insisted that he should check first, there came a twin room, no further comments from him anymore.Upon entering, we then realised it is a non-smoking room so we called for a ashtray, so far so good. But later the bellman who came delivered our room service order noticed the cigarette smell, he commented rudely " no smoking in the room" and he left. Chinese restaurant service was also bad, no one border to pour our bottle of white wine, later a rude lady manager came and asked us how to settle bill, no smile at all. She did not even border to explain about the 15% discount if we put the bill on room account so why asked in the first case!The issue was later brought to the Assistant Manager attention named Benny, I finally experienced professional service. He managed to handle my concern well and apologized profusely---at least I feel like a guest!Found a bunch of hair stucked on the shower curtain which looked disgusting. The guy who checked us out was professional and friendly. Thank God but Bellman never offer assistant when we need help with so many luggage...not even getting a taxi for us. Sad departure!!

This hotel is in a great location if you plan to use the Metro system. You can reach two different stations within a 5 minute walk. The hotel is clean and has an excellent buffet breakfast plus a very good on site restaurant for lunch or dinner.

This is a hotel for a business stay .... the network B & B in France is more user-friendly ... it is a side exhibition center, that's all.You are most welcomed by a PLC in France.Check-in and check-out and breakfast are unworthy of a hotel of this level. The bedding is very average.

We had a late check in, staff were ok, no food available either in the hotel or outside area as it was 10.45pm, no bar open, breakfast was not good, most items very dry, room itself was spacious and clean.
