Did a job
Holiday Inn okay but I'm sure there are better alternativesWe arrived just after lunch time to find our room wasn't ready resulting in a 50 minute wait in the lobby, so not a good start.The rooms themselves were okay and exactly the same as you would expect from a chain brand hotel.The free WIFI in the lobby was reliable and quick enough to support Skype.I really enjoyed the breakfast. A good selection, the dumpling soup was very tasty.As mentioned by previous reviewers the location is not the best, right in the middle of a residential area. On the plus side though just around the corner you can enjoy tasty and cheap food from the local street vendors whilst sampling a cheap local beer or two.In all whilst I feel there are better alternatives I really couldn't find fault with the hotel. It served as an ok base for our three day tour of Beijing.

Dont stay here
We were staying here as part of a tour of China with Hayes and Jarvis. This hotel is dirty and the staff in the restaurant were unhelpful and badly managed.The rooms were very old and the carpets filthy especially in the restaurant. The food was awful with tinned fruit and little choice for the foreign tourists. Don't have the evening buffet . We did the first night and with waiter staff busy playing with there phones and no food selection . had to wait 15 minutes for them to bring some cartons of ice cream which was immediately snatched up by other patrons in the restaurant, probably the only decent thing on the buffet. The position of the hotel in the south of the city is a problem as all the tourist attractions are in the middle and to the north of the city and because of the traffic congestion this is a difficult hotel to get back to.The surrounding area is very poor and has little to offer in the way of restaurants to eat in. if you are brave you can eat and drink at the side of the road with the locals. managed a lager from a bottle and at 30 pence a bottle it helped with the disappointment of the hotel

Good
Things are good here, staff very helpful rooms are comy. Service is good, special mention for the reception staff who always look to help you with their little good english. Not very far from tourist attractions. Temple of Heaven a 10 min walk, Tian'anmen and forbidden city are accessible with subway taoranting station. Breakfast was not as good as expected but enough for a filling. It can be improved. Priority club members get a welcome drink coupon which is good. Rooms are not very pricy. Overall it was a good experience,

Good Beijing Acommodation
Hi, I am the author of "Moments in Time- a collection of short stories". These are based on many overseas experiences, hence I have travelled a lot. This hotel is clean, the rooms spacious and location about average. Down the road is a departmental store and supermarket. These provide for good shopping. Behind the store there is a bus stop and for 1 Chinese (about 20 cents NZ) you can take a bus to shoppers road and many other places. Taxis though are quite cheap. The counter staff are helpful. You can also organise tours through the hotel. Breakfast is buffet but favours the Asian taste bud more-so.They do have very reasonably priced meals at the restaurant for dinner and tea.

relax place to stay
The hotel is located in a local resident area. it is very easy to find a free standing restaurant where you find the local food.The hotel is very near temple of heaven,front desk staff are very nice to recommend me to have a walk there after dinner. A lot of pine trees, fresh air, local residents dance and exercise there. The walking is very enjoyable. I am very relax staying in this hotel in my last trip in Beijing.
