The thorn in the Marriott crown.
If you are expecting Marriott excellence, stay at the Marquis or the Fairfield. If you are expecting to be treated fairly & with courtesy, go elsewhere. If you are expecting comfort and/or a concierge lounge, wrong place. The rooms ate small and cramped. No closet space for two guests. No where to stow luggage. Dirty carpets and the staff are rude and could care less if you are unconvinced. I have stayed in the finest JW across the globe and this property is bound to bring shame the the brand name.

Great Location
Right across from Central Park! Loved the location. It is now a JW Marriott property and they are still working on the lounge for elite members but they did give me a room upgrade. Rooms with beautiful views available. Bar was very nice. Lobby flowers were beautiful. Room was clean and comfortable. All staff was friendly. Great dinner recommendation from the concierge, Trattoria Dell'Arte. Loved it and it was within walking distance!

Best Place to stay on the Park
Love the Essex House on Central Park South, especially now as a Marriott property. Great location just a few steps away from Columbus Circle and the Time Warner Center, a few blocks away from Fifth Avenue Shopping, and right across the street from the best parts of Central Park. Beautiful rooms, many with spectacular views, terrific dining, including our favorite breakfast down the block at SaraBeth's. Small but adequate fitness facility, steam room, and sauna. Can simply walk to the Broadway shows or stroll over to Lincoln Center or Carnegie Hall. Elegance, class, location, the Essex House has it all!

Stunning Hotel Across from Central Park
Location, location, location! This hotel couldn't be in a better spot as it is literally, directly across from an entrance to Central Park. Everything from the service, the common areas, and the room's appointments were top notch. I only wish hotels in this class would provide coffee making equipment in the rooms or guest access to ice machines so I didn't have to bother the front desk to have coffee or ice sent up.

This is luxury!
A couple of my friends and I went to New York for a birthday trip. I reserved two standard rooms for us to share. Upon checkin, I was upgraded to a suite, so we combined the two rooms into one. Our stay was phenomenal. The room was beautiful and so comfortable. I don't think I've ever had such a good night sleep. The staff was incredibly attentive and helpful in getting us reservations at restaurants. The view was absolutely amazing and one of the best I've ever had of New York's Central Park. I would HIGHLY recommend the JW Essex House to anyone who is looking for a fantastic getaway!
