Full marks to the staff!
The Midland Hotel staff could not be faulted. Nothing was too much trouble, always attended to quickly and with great humour. From Chris Nuttall at the concierge desk to Beverley in the breakfast room we were so well looked after.However, the room (10) on the mezzanine level left us pretty tired at the end of our four night stay.If anybody is listening you have a serious problem with squeaky floorboards on the mezzanine level where the bed is. Getting up in the night is guaranteed to wake the dead!We were too busy having fun to complain, but hope this is a wake up call, cause the staff at the Midland do not deserve to be let-down. Made me proud of my hometown and our humour and fantastic work-ethic. Thank you all.

Great Staff
I stay at this hotel on a very regular basis on business, the staff here are fantastic, they are always friendly and welcoming and nothing is ever too much trouble for them and they often go that little bit extra to make your stay away from home as pleasant as possible. This is the first time I have stayed away on a weekend - was hosting a hospitality event and husband came along to support.He doesn't normally get to stay away but he was impressed with the staff and the rooms. He liked how big the room was (we had a corner room) and how comfortable the bed was. The decor might not be to everyone's taste, perhaps a little bit heavy but it suits the overall feel of the hotel. We both had a good night's sleep as the beds are super king size which means I managed to get some space to sleep without any territorial fighting in the middle of the night.The bathrooms are excellent, good quality fittings, anti-mist mirrors, usual range of toiletries and lovely white fluffy towels. PLUS something that really makes a stay for me is when dressing gowns are provided - very happy to find two in the bathroom this time.The breakfast is usually very good, never had any complaints. The only thing to watch out for is if there is a convention/conference or as on this occasion a large (Chinese) touring group you may wait a few minutes to be seated - not ideal if you need to get off to a meeting or are catching a train. Best to leave plenty of time if you know you are under time constraints as if the hotel is full there will be huge numbers of people wanting to be served. We used the valet parking service for the first time - the consierge was very good about advising how we could get the cheapest rates but as we didn't know Manchester that well and didn't want to get up too early the next morning we decided to go for the full valet parking which cost ¿¿25. The car was delivered to the back door - just need to give 30 mins notice. .

Brilliant every time!
I stay a lot at this hotel with business travel. I have to say, it is my most favourite hotel anywhere in the world. Everything about this hotel screams class and elegance and the staff are absolutely fantastic.It is like stepping back in time a little, where good old fashioned customer service ruled and everyone is treated with courtesy and respect. In addition, its location is great as you are very close to the tram stop for easy access across town and further afott. Having said that, everything is easily in walking distance if you are fit and able to walk about 15 minutes to get to the centre of Manchester.Whilst this hotel is only 4 stars, I would give it 5. This is not for the room decor, as it is a little tired, but for the experience you get everytime you stay in this hotel. If you are looking for a boutique spa hotel, super posh with all the luxuries a chain hotel provides, then this isn;t for you. However, if you want great service, a fantastic breakfast and an atmosphere that takes you back in time, then this is the place to stay.I highly recommend this hotel, it just has 'something' about it that makes me go back time and time again.

Great Hospitality in a Great Hotel
I booked a junior suite at short notice as my wife and I were in Manchester for a concert. On arrival we were greeted by the concierge who was friendly and very helpful. The front house manager advised that we had been upgraded to a fabulous master suite.The quality of the suite, the helpfulness of the staff, the dining and the overall experience of our short stay means that the Midland will always be top of our list of hotels to stay in Manchester.We are both looking for forward to a return trip in the no too distant future. I cannot recommend the Midland at its staff highly enough.
