excellent hotel
we staied 3 nights at the hotel. We wanted to stay in a central location, but I found a great deal and decided to go with it.Hotel stay was great. The hotel is a 10 minute walk to the tram stop (line 2). The tram passes the important places of the city.Nice hotel, very quiet place, courteous service and recommended.

Quiet, stylish, surrounded by business buildings
My brother and I spent four days at this hotel. We wanted to go with a more central location, but I found a great deal for this one through ebookers.com, and we decided to go with it. After spending four days in Amsterdam, we think we made the best choice. We wouldn't see the outskirts of Amsterdam if we stayed downtown, and we are both glad that we did. Now we have a fuller picture of the diversity of Amsterdam. The hotel is about 6km far from Leidseplein. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood. The rooms are just the right size, and very pleasant and stylish. Beds are comfy. There is a fridge, safe, iron, ironing board, coffee and tea maker in the room. The bathroom door is made of glass and it doesn't lock. Looks interesting. Some people may find this weird. Part of me does too. It is not clearly see-through. No lock on the bathroom door either.TRANSPORTATION FROM THE AIRPORT: take the bus #195 and get off at the IBM stop. Price: 4 eur. Length of the ride: 10-15 minutes. Cross the street the bus was on at the bus stop, and continue walking between the buildings for about three minutes. The hotel is on your right hand side. NOTE: this bus does not run on weekends. Taxi ride back to the airport was 25 eur.TRANSPORTATION TO CITY CENTER: the bus #145 stop is in front of the hotel and it gets you to Leidseplein in 13-20 minutes. Very convenient. It runs every half hour until about 00:30 am. Ticket price: 2 eur. It is also possible to buy a RT ticket, not sure for what price. This bus is much faster then the tram #2.OTHER OPTIONS FOR TRANSPORTATION: tram #2. 5-10 minutes walk from the hotel. The night bus #358 runs after midnight. Runs every half hour. If you buy I AMSTERDAM card, these two will be included in the pass. We didn't because Rijksmuseum and Madam Tussaud were not covered by the card, so it didn't work for us.ASK THE HOTEL STAFF FOR MAPS AND BUSES SCHEDULES, they have them ready for first-time comers to Amsterdam. The brother and I walked one day to the city center, and it was a nice and diverse walk towards Vondelspark and then through the park. It's about one hour walk. We made several stops. There are some nice fast food options on the way, nice neighborhoods, stores. If you are not in a rush, and like walking, go for it.Hotel staff - very helpful and nice. All of them. I am pretty puzzled why some reviewers thought the staff was not nice. Well, not the staff we spoke to for sure, and we spoke to many of them.

"Thank you for flying at Barney's."
My friend and I stayed at the Artemis in Amsterdam for 4 nights and 3 days for his 19th, and it was awesome! First of all the hotel was outstanding, rooms were super comfortable and bathroom was very well equipped (could have used a lock on the bathroom door but other than that). Beds were very comfortable and staff were very helpful and friendly (keep your eye out for the dishy receptionist). Breakfast was great although we only got up early enough to hit the one on the last morning, I was feeling fairly ropey though so didn't each much, coffee was good though and my mate seemed to enjoy the bacon! Ordered room service twice for some late night munchies, was glad to see we could order a pizza and beer at silly o'clock! Location of the hotel could have been a bit more central but it is a short walk to the Louesweg tram stop which takes you straight into the centre of the city (15/20min tram ride, 7.50 euros for 24 hour travel including buses). Although it was nice to be located in an area that wasn't too noisy for a good kip.As for the city itself it was absolutely gorgeous. We went in the beginning of May so weather was perfect for sitting outside with a beer, or chilling out in a coffee shop by the canal smoking some of the world's finest. Speaking of coffeshops I think I speak for my friend and myself that we simply couldn't pick a favourite. However, The Bulldog was one we tended to go to a fair bit, a really nice atmosphere, good green and friendly staff make for a great bunning Amsterdam experience (the gift shop next door sells some pretty sweet paraphernalia too!) Another good spot is just around the corner from The Bulldog on the canal called Good Tunes. Very comfortable seating, nice mellow tunes and large fat screen tellies (we watched a Sasquatch documentary smoking purple haze, playing cards and drinking some freshly squeezed OJ, needless to say that was a good morning!) If your after something a little more rustic there's a nice place on Haarlemmer Straat called La Grotte. Very nice mood with very friendly locals and some lovely hash. On the same street is Barney's coffeshop which is a MUST for Amsterdam first timers! Award winning weed, cracking coffee, great staff and a TV to to each table to watch some Buster Keaton on, can only be a good thing. The bouncer's words "Thank you for flying at Bareny's" certainly rang true! But anyway, brilliant hotel brilliant holiday and brilliant chronic. Planning on going again later this year!

A good overnight stop
Nice hotel, comfortable rooms, good breakfast. The staff are friendly and speak impeccable English. When I was there it seemed full of Japanese tourists doing Europe in one hit, so a good overnight hotel stop.

Nice design, but oh so boring...
Location wise it's a good hotel if you have business close to the airport or in the nearby areas. If you are aiming for central parts as a tourist you will need to walk ~15 min for tram stop and then 30 min on the tram. If you're not in a hurry it's more than ok since it's a direct line without any need to change to another line. The rooms are big and with an ok design, nothing really to complain about here except for that the room was a bit teared down with a lot of marks on walls and floor. Maybe a real deep cleaning would be good...Food and service was average. Nothing specific, efficient instead of friendly. I would recommend it for a business trip, but not otherwise.
