Fair stay, close to the beach
Nice hotel with modern rooms, we stayed on the 7th floor and had a pretty good view of both the city and the coast line. However this hotel is graded as 4 star hotel, for such hotel I would expect slightly bigger room that included a mini-bar and that the cleaning crew are removing dishes (used glass from the bar etc..), from the day before when cleaning the room. Also the beds are not the most comfortable, very hard (but that seem to be typical for Mediterranean hotels). But in general the hotel is fine and the standard are acceptable, but I would have graded it as a very fine three star hotel, to manage expectations better.

Loved the Hotel 4!

a very good hotel
Stopped here for 5 nights in April and enjoyed the stay very much.Flew into main Barcelona airport, train into Barcelona from the airport (Terminal A) and then under ground / Metro to Llacuna on the yellow line. Walk out of Llacuna towards the sea which is slightly right (keep the large "Gerkin" business building behind you) and you'll be going the correct way and can see the hotel from a distance, 10 min walk from Llacuna station.Hotel is pretty new, the area surrounding the hotel isn't exactly plush but it's safe and quiet.Check in was quick, room was clean and had the best shower ever, TV was flat screen and you can catch up on BBC world news.Breakfast was buffet and decent, it's continental with bacon, sausage, fritata and beans also present. It could have been hotter and they tried a bit of English but didn't quite pull it off, well you are in Spain you know !!!!It was decent however with lots of fruit, cereals, fresh breads, meats and certainly enough and kept you going for most of the day whilst doing the usual touristy stuff.The hotel has a small bar, didn't use it apart from a bottle of water but it was the usual higher prices. However internet was free, 2 pc's in the corner and handy to keep up on the news and drop emails, check weather etc.It's located about 10 min walk from the beach and Promanade which was lovely, there's some beach bars and restaurants at Port Olympic. Just leave hotel, walk around the back and you head towards the sea, over the main road via a bridge and you're there.The tourist bus stop is also there behind the hotel, there's a e2 discount of you book at hotel Reception when booking Tour buses.Overall the hotel was VERY clean, best ever shower, decent buffet breakfast with nice pleasant staff.

Hotel near the beach
We have been to Barcelona before and stayed near the Ramblas, this time we wanted to be near the beach and so chose Hotel 4 Barcelona due to other write-ups which sounded good. We weren't disappointed in the hotel, it was clean, modern, very nice room and the staff were extremely helpful. It was about 10 minutes walk to the beach which was OK. I was a bit disappointed in the area, nothing much around so you have to walk to the beach where there are restaurants, parks etc. We were only there for one night as we were getting a cruise from Barcelona Port the next day, so the position of the hotel was ideal. If you want to stay just one night or so then this is a good hotel to stay in, very quiet at night too which is what we wanted and seemed a very safe area. However, if you are staying for a week or so and want more nightlife and more hustle and bustle then this probably is not for you. We did enjoy our stay though and for anyone using it for a one night stay before joining a cruise, it is ideal.

Perfect Stay!
Arrived on Thursday and were put in a room on the 7th floor with an ocean view. Room was great and served as a wonderful home base. Only 6 minutes from nearest metro, so we had no trouble going in and out of the city center. Our main plan for our trip was to go to the beach and the hotel is only a five minute walk to the beach, so was perfect. Although the area around the hotel looks a little rundown and rough, we had no problems either during the day or night. Some traffic noise but not enough to keep us up at night. We took advantage of the breakfast and loved it. Recommend going early as it can get busy the later you go. Overall, a wonderful hotel with great service. Definitely would recommend and hope to return soon!
