Our three night stay at this hotel was excellent. Close to Oberkampf metro and surrounded by bars and eateries, this was the perfect place for our short stay in Paris. The room was a great size with a large bed, desk, two chairs, two storage cupboards in the room and space to move around. There was also shelving in the bathroom and tea and coffee making facilities in the room. After reading so many reviews about small rooms sizes in Paris we were pleasantly surprised at how much space we had in this room. Reception is staffed 24 hours a day and the staff were all very friendly and helpful, spoke excellent english and even understood our simple french. Breakfast was a simple cold buffet selection, but with so many amazing food choices in Paris a simple breakfast is best as it leaves more room for patisserie, lunch, dinner and more patisserie!

POINT 1: At Thursday, May 30, 2013, at the afternoon, we walked in this hotel and booked a room for that night directly from the hotel reception. We also asked them to inform us if they have availability for two single rooms for the next days. The same night they told us that they have availability. The problems started ... We stayed one night (May 31) and the next morning they told us to move to a twin room because they made a MISTAKE and they promised us to find a room for us at least to another hotel. They never did. We came back from Disneyland at night, really tired and we discovered that there was no room for us. The official reply from the hotel (in a quite ignorant manner) was that "they tried". It was not their job to find a solution for us. Before starting this message, I found two rooms in another hotel within 5' with a simple expedia search. We just called to the hotel to confirm availability because it is already almost midnight and since French hoteliers just make bookings without looking at their reservations plan I needed a confirmation.POINT 2: During our 3 days stay they were changing the carpet and we couldn't go down the stairs. We had to wait for at least 5 minutes every time for the elevator. Taking into consideration that we had to move our luggage every single day you can imagine how nice it was.POINT 3: June 31, we came back and the receptionist was sleeping. We had to ring the bell 3-4 times in order to get inside.POINT 4: When someone else in the hotel is flushing the toilet you can hear it.

We stayed here in 2007 and loved it. The location is excellent, across the street from the weekly market. Very charming, clean, etc. The one thing that has completely ruined it for all of us is the very rude front desk staff. We are very careful to observe French customs and what the hotel requests and never expect to receive anything beyond what is reasonable. We're good, fair travelers. More than once we were yelled at and treated with anger. There are many MANY hotels to choose from, or rooms to rent. With so many choices and kind people, don't bother staying here.

This hotel is listed as a 3 star hotel, which is very misleading.Other than the room size, which is tiny, the amenities are closer to those offered (or not) in one and two star hotels. The shower soap comes out of a dispenser that reminds me of a railway station shower - only one dispenser - so you call it whatever you want: shampoo, soap or whatever. Same with the sink. It feels like a public restroom. Not a "three-star" hotel.Reception was friendly, but the chambermaids were grossly untrained: although I had placed a "do not disturb" sign outside the door, the chambermaid came in unannounced, WITHOUT KNOCKING while I was in the bathroom.The window was facing another inside window so it felt like a prison cell. Location is OK and the room was reasonably clean. The category is totally misrepresented though.

I was in Paris by myself so I didnt have any requirements other than great location, clean and and at least decently comfortable. This was perfect. The front desk was helpful and spoke plenty of English. The room was small but I knew to expect that and it was fine, seemed freshly painted and clean. The location is fantastic. Just up from Bastille so not at the major intersection. 2 min walk to the metro, 10 min walk to Marais. The best part is Fri there is a farmers market right out the front door and Sat and Sun was the BEST flea market ever. I dont know if it is weekly or monthly but worth inquiring about. I saw several restaurants in the immediate neighborhood that I wanted to try. I would certainly go back or recommend it looking for no frills convenience.
