Nice hotel, great location
The Windermere is a short walk from Victoria Station (underground, train and bus station), Sloane Square and Chelsea. It is close to restaurants, pubs, shopping and a Sainsbury supermarket. The neighborhood is a residential area -- very safe to walk around at anytime. We had a corner room, with windows on both sides overlooking the street, providing nice cross ventilation. By English standards the room was spacious. I recommend requesting one of the corner rooms. The included breakfast was ample with made-to-order eggs and breakfast meats as options. Dry cereal and croissants are also available. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They will make restaurant reservations, book the airport shuttle and sell tickets to the "Eye." One tip: instead of a taxi or the Underground to Heathrow, the staff will book a shuttle, which provides door-to-door service, is comfortable and only costs 28 pounds for a couple. Another tip: purchase an Oyster Card for using the Underground and buses. It provides a 50% discount.

Just the job
Stayed here for one night whilst down in london for a garden party, was just the job. Yes the room and bathroom were small but were clean, well maintained and met our needs. Staff helpful and conviniently located for our needs, would stay again and recomend to others

Could have been better
We came to the hotel, room was ok, but the bathroom had hair in the bath tube from the last guest. We went out to eat and asked them to fix it. When we got back 3-4 hours later was nothing done. Lousy service. When we complained about it the next day all we got was sorry.The TV is small and difficult to see from the bed. No air condition 15 min walk to the tube.

Very Comfortable, Conveniently Located Small Family Hotel with Excellent Breakfast
We stayed at The Windermere Hotel this past November for a few nights.I have to say the room on the 3rd floor overlooking the street was very comfortable for us.This is a small, family run hotel. The people who run the hotel are friendly, welcoming and professional.The Bistro, located in the basement of the Hotel is tiny but our room rate included a breakfast each morning served in the Bistro. We had the choice of a cooked to order English Breakfast with eggs, sausage, toast or the Continental. I had the Continental each morning - yummy yogurt and fresh fruit, croissant, cheese, ham . . .my husband ordered from the menu. Both were excellent. Coffee was very good.The Bistro is open for dinner as well although we did not eat any other meals here. We did stop by one night for a glass of wine and met some wonderful people. A couple from PA that lived about 25 minutes from us and a family from Scotland who were seeing the Queen the next day to get an award! It was a lovely way to end our day.Our room was not very spacious but for the two of us we had sufficient room for our luggage and our things and we both felt very comfortable there. The bath consisted of a shower/ tub combination with a nice skylight for natural light. There was a satellite tv in the room along with free wifi.Great water pressure in the shower and lots of hot water.Our bed was very comfortable and there was little noise that we noticed.The location was really great. A seemingly quiet, safe neighborhood just a few blocks from Victoria Station. Lots of excellent pubs nearby and lots of public transportation close as well.To us the price did seem a little steep at $300 US Dollars a night - but the conversion was about 1.61 to start. I would absolutely recommend The Windermere to family and friends with no hesitation.

Wonderful Hotel!
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Windermere on our first trip to London, and we had a great experience! The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the room was clean and nice - at a good price! The breakfast that was included with your stay was probably the best part! The eggs, potatoes and bacon on top of continental breakfast items were delicious. I would recommend this hotel to any friend visiting London, as it is within walking distance of many of the big sights while being in a safe, residential district. The area gives you a different taste of London! The experience would have been perfect at the Winderemere if it hadn't been for the fact that the safe in the room had been locked by the previous guest upon our arrival, and it took a day for the staff to have maintenance come to unlock the safe. But still, the staff was overly friendly and accommodating regarding the situation! I'd still highly recommend!
