Good value, comfortable.
I stayed at this hotel for three nights in September 2012. Not the most luxurious hotel in the city but very comfortable and excellent value. I found the reception staff helpful and eager to please. The room was a good size, by Hong Kong standards and pleasantly quiet. As already mentioned in other reviews, the mattress was extremely hard but a soft mattress topper was provided on request. Plus points were the breakfast and free shuttle bus throughout the day to various locations around Hong Kong.

Good location in the Valley
We have recently returned from a good stay (6 days) at the Emperor Hotel in Happy Valley. Room was a good size - our only gripe would be that the bed was very firm, even by Asian standards! Great location in the Valley, close to trams and buses, or a 15-20 minute walk to Causeway Bay.Would also point out that, on our first day, there was a problem in our bathroom but it was dealt with very quickly (within an hour or so of reporting the issue) by the staff at the hotel - very good.

Almost perfect
My family stayed in this hotel for 3days... The hotel itself is ok... Its just that the receptionist who welcomes us was not very polite... We arrived early in the hotel like 10am. Though we understand that check in time is 2pm... We tried to ask if we can have an early check in and the receptionist who assisted us says "No early check in!" I mean, i believe that there is a better or polite way to say "No!" Also, we bought things from our city tour and it was delivered statight to the hotel. So after the tour, as we arrived back to the hotel, i checked with the receptionist if we have a package for our room.. They looked in their logbook and said "no, nothing for you sir" i asked if they can double check it cuz we are expecting it to be there that day. And she said "im sure sir.. Nothing for 703(which is our room). Only 803 and 907. I called our tour guide and told her that we dont have the package yet... After 15mins i received a call from the front desk saying there was a mixed up with the package and everything... But i would like to commend the big guy at the door of the hotel... He is very accomodating and welcoming... He greeted everyone with a smile... He will try to have a little chat... Its just so bad i didnt got his name... Anyways, so far so good... Free wifi...clean rooms... Big lavatory...

quiet, good value hotel
the rooms are small but clean, not noisy and good price. They give you free WiFi access in the room for one user during your stay. the area is also quiet, the hotel has a mini-bus leaving every morning on different times to locations like exhibition center, central...etc. but you need to register the night before and confirm the time to use it which is very good.

Great time in HK
My girlfriend and I stayed at The Emperor Hotel for 4 nights during New Year 2013. We selected the hotel based on trip advisor reviews and by looking for something that was not very expensive. This was probably the most expensive time to visit as hotel prices were not cheap and I believe prices in Hong Kong are high anyway so for Hong Kong The Emperor was cheap but it was not good value for money if you compare to certain other cities. We booked via AsiaRooms.com and I emailed the hotel a number of times to confirm our booking and ask questions. On every occasion the hotel responded the same day which is superb service and really fills a customer with confidence. The hotel charged my card with one nights stay as deposit a week prior to arrival but reimbursed it once we arrived and then charged my Singapore Visa debit card for the whole stay which cost 4,730 HK dollar. From the airport it couldn't be simpler to get to the hotel via airport express train to Hong Kong station and then taxi to the hotel. The Airport Express cost 160 HKD for 2 people and the taxi was about 50HKD. The total trip took less than an hour. We were greater out the taxi by hotel staff who took our luggage and helped us check in. We were allowed to check in early which was a bonus. The hotel has 3 lifts and our room was on the 19th floor. The room was good and much bigger than I expected after reading other reviews. It was spotlessly clean and a maid serviced our room every day. Our room was one room away from the lifts but we heard no noise at all from the lifts. You could hear people talking in other rooms a bit but not very often. The bed was rock solid as we expected but it was no problem. There was even another double duvet available so this could be used I guess to help if needed. The hair dryer in the room was not great by modern standards but it did the job for my girlfriends long hair. There was a nice view out of our room window also which was a nice surprise. Tea and coffee making and 2 complimentary bottles of water were offered along with a TV and the wifi was good enough for basic browsing. They did say that only one username and password were given per room so my girlfriend couldn't use her iPhone and we had to share my iPad. Again, this was no problem. One night our toilet wouldn't flush so we called reception and within ten minutes house keeping arrived and solved it quickly. The hotel staff and services were excellent. We went to the lobby after settling in and got hold of a map and had a long conversation with the concierge about the attractions, transport etc. The staff were very helpful. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel but there were lots of options within a small distance. Subway, Macdonalds, Pacific Coffee cafe and various others. Public transport was also ideally located. The No. 30 minibus stopped literally 10 steps outside the hotel front door and took you to Causeway Bay MTR. Busses stopped very near along with the trams, there is absolutely no need to waste money on taxis but the hotel would get you one if required. There are many food options around Happy Valley. One I want to mention is a small Thai restaurant called Na Thai. The food was superb and well priced. Just google it to find the address but they do close every Tuesday. Our flight was late so the hotel held our luggage after we checked out. All in all a very good stay in The Emperor Hotel, feel free to ask me any questions but I would recommend it to anyone!
