Sydney trip
Stayed for a week for business and holiday. Great location and close to transport options but way overpriced with rooms that are definitely in need of a facelift and in room amenities that are basic at best. Woken in the early morning with a blaring alarm but not given any directions for at least 15 minutes - not great if it was a real fire!

Business in Darling Harbour
This is an excellent place to stay for access to all areas in Darling Harbour. Easy to park, cross to the harbour, rail links, restaurants, shopping, convention and entertainment centres, views, clean, good efficient room service, checkin and out. There were no issues with leaving my car past the regular stay time either given I was in a conference and unable to move it (so early in and late out of the car park at no extra charge).

Romantic Overnight Getaway for Vivid Festival, Sydney.
This is our third stay at the Novotel, Darling Harbour, in as many years. This overnight was arranged by my fianc¿¿ after a previous experience that was way under par for this 5 star hotel. We gave it another go after the manager offered us a good basic room rate and promised a free upgrade, free parking (worth a staggering $45 per day at this hotel) and free breakfast to be included. When we checked in, the blonde male was friendly but although he found our booking he was unable to see the extras we were promised with our booking. He added them anyway, and added late check out at 12pm to make our stay easier. We were given a room on level 7 overlooking Darling Harbour, but as soon as we walked into the room we were greeted with what could only be described as a CHOKING smell of stale cigarette smoke (despite the fact that this is a non smoking hotel and there are signs EVERYWHERE). We promptly called reception and asked for another room, higher if possible, and were told to return to reception. The other attendant, of Indian appearance went upstairs to check the room, and we were offered a room on level 9 instead. I'm not sure about the 'upgrade' we were supposed to get, because this room, and the one on level 7 looked the same as what we've had before when we've stayed here as a standard. Possibly, this is the only room type they have. Despite the 'false start' the remainder of our stay was faultless. The staff are professional, but friendly. The breakfast buffet is plentiful in terms of variety, and the food offered is of the quality expected from a five star hotel. The location is exceptional, which is why we've chosen to stay here previously, with excellent views of the fireworks at Darling Harbour on a Saturday night from our room without having to worry about jostling with the crowds.

Awesome view
We have stayed there before and the view from the higher floors well is just awesome, it was booked in advance so we got a good price with buffet breaky, i requested a early check in as we were off the Carnival Spirit Crusie Ship by about 8.30 which they were able to fulfill (yeah)got our room key but unfortunately the room we got smelled really bad of stale smoke so I rang reception was asked to come back down to see what they could do and male staff member think his name started with A maybe in his 30s sorry should have got his name was more than helpful gave us another room and my husband being a bit cheeky said could we have a higher floor to which the staff member said if we would like to check in later on we could we said ok but to our surprise the wonderful male staff member found a room on a higher floor great so another wonderful room with view and we also got to see the fireworks.And the concierge booked a wonderful luxury car and we had a fantastic driver Harry..think maybe the floor we were first on may have a smoking floor and it just takes a while to get rid of the smell as they are smoke free

twice in one month and it does not disappoint
Consistently good. Staff are friendly and efficient and the location is quiet yet right in Darling Harbor. The rooms are always clean and room service prompt. the bar has a gorgeous view and is great for a quiet 'wind down' at the end of the day.The only thing that this a bit of a drag (and most hotels get this wrong) is the bathroom lighting....so hard to put make up on with confidence without good overhead and side lighting. oh and shower caps would be good too.
