Great location
This hotel provides good value in a great location, very convenient to Trams, Trains and Etihad stadium if you are attending a football game there. Rooms are spacious and comfortable enough and we didn't experience any issue with outside noise. It was a great place to spend a couple of nights.

Good Choice in Melbourne
We stayed here for two nights in February/2013. The hotel is easy walking distance from the train station, which worked well for us. On arriving, we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful (I know other reviewers don't always agree with me about the staff at different places but we have always found that if we are cheerful & friendly, we get the same attitude in response.). The room was quite large, clean, and well equipped. A continental breakfast was included in the price and we ate at the hotel both mornings we were there. The food selection was somewhat limited but was good and there was plenty available. The kitchen staff obviously were keeping a good eye out because if something started to run out, they replentished it immediately. We had a room at the higher floor (sorry -- don't remember the exact floor or room number) and so didn't notice any street noise at night. I cannot comment on the rest of the facilities (fitness center, pool, room service, internet) as we did not use any of these. If we ever are in Melbourne again, we would stay here again.

Complete disappointment
Where to start? My first business trip to Melbourne, and Atlantis looked like a good bet on the net.Service was okay and first impressions of the room were good... Spacious, comfortable and well appointed, the en-suite was also good and the shower was really good. The fact the room ad onl;y just been made up and 2 bulbs were out was an early warning of things to come.Part of the attraction was that there was advertised a gym, sauna and pool. The gym and sauna were good and the pool could have made it great, but for the layer of scum sitting on the water surface and unclean looking tide line. I wouldn't have washed my dog in there!It became apparent at night that sound insulation was non existent. every single siren and car horn woke me up thinking the cars were in the room. Added to that there is a major building site opposite that will be there until at least 2014. they start work about 5am, and so did I whether I wanted to or not!There is no restaurant or bar, but the do serve "continental" breakfast. Avoid this unnecessary expense at all cost - there is nothing good about the breakfast, it will only leave you gutted you wasted $15 on it.If this was last place left in Melbourne, I'd sleep rough in a park. I give this a generous 2, because location, cleanliness, room size & comfort (excluding noise) value and bathroom make up for the many faults.

Whenever we are heading to Melbourne, I see if the Atlantis is available first.Prices are always competitive.5 min walk to Spencer St stationTram stop outside the hotel for free city circle or other lines.10 min walk to docklands15 min walk to cityRooms are clean, spacious and dark (great curtains)Yummy restaurant downstairs and breakfast is filling

Nice rooms but the internet is a money pit
The rooms are quite modern and the bed is SUPER comfy. I was also pleased with the breakfast. My room overlooked the city, which was a nice bonus. I found some of the staff friendly while others weren't as happy. However, if you plan to use the internet while on vacation or business, go elsewhere. There are a number of packages they list including one hour, four hours, one day, three days etc. But there is a megabyte limit to these packages!!! I bought the three day package for $20 and 24 hours later it was used up!!! Had I known I would be gouged for internet, I would have chosen to stay elsewhere. It is really unfortunate because that would take the hotel to another level since it is super clean, in a good location etc.
