This hotel was close to work that I had in the area. Self parking was in the garage next door. The room was very large and the bed was comfortable. Check in was quick and staff at the front desk was friendly. Internet connection was fine.

Great hotel and location was fantastic!
Received an affordable group rate for 43 individuals from Atlanta, Georgia on a Spring Tour to NYC. The rooms were big with a separate sitting area and so clean with beds and pillows that were the most comfortable we've ever had. The towels were so thick and soft, too. The location was fantastic! After dinner at Bertucci's Italian Restaurant (great food and great service), we walked back to the hotel along the waterfront. Took great photos of the full moon rising over the skyline of Manhattan. We ate breakfast the first day at McDonald's in the mall one block behind the hotel, and ate breakfast at the Skylark Restaurant two blocks from the hotel the remaining days. Each morning we took a short walk to the Path Station and rode the train over to NYC. The staff (both morning and evening) were wonderful -- greeted our group with chocolate chip cookies and maps of the area, and answered any and all our questions. They even arranged the shuttle for those in our group that were unable to walk. Jersey City is a great place to stay and the DoubleTree Hotel is the best. What a wonderful trip we all had!!!

Good location for getting into Manhattan, otherwise....
It's never a good thing when reception greets someone holding a reservation with "let's see if we have a room for you".....what??? Yes, they did have a room, but they acted like they were doing me a favor because they were "sold out". Right, that's why I made a reservation. Anyway....Big rooms with sitting areas - that's the best thing you can say about this hotel, that and it's proximity to the Newport PATH station to get to Manhattan.When I stayed there I noticed several plates and dishes left outside rooms for more than 12 hours..great for critters, not so good for those who appreciate a clean hotel.

Fantastic Location & Service
My wife and I spent four nights at this hotel and our stay was fantastic. We were in Jersey City for my niece's wedding. The staff was courteous and helpful when needed. This hotel is central for shopping, restaurants, site seeing and access to Manhattan. A few places to check out around would be Cosi if you're looking for breakfast or lunch. Also, looking to spend a night and have some drinks, VB3 or Michael Anthony's would be some great choices. Or if you want, check out Skylark for dinner. This place was recommended by a staff member and the service and food there was outstanding. Or if you looking for a variety of different foods, take a 10 min ride to Hoboken. So, overall the atmosphere and decor of this hotel is comparable to any other of it's class. We both had a splendid time and would return.

Stayed for work, won't be my first choice...
Stayed at this hotel this past week and really wasn't impressed. The front desk experience was unremarkable, and I was given my key card and a warm cookie. The hotel interior seemed a bit dated and maybe a little dingy, and just seemed like any Holiday Inn you might find on a highway trip. When I got to my room, I saw it was directly next to the elevator, so I asked the front desk if I could be moved to another room. I was told that the junior suites with queen beds are all arranged around the elevators (make a note of that if booking), and they couldn't/wouldn't move me to an upgraded room. Calling the room a suite in any form, junior or otherwise, is honestly a stretch, as the "suite" is basically a deeper standard room with a half wall in the middle, with a sitting area on one side, the bed and bathroom entrance on the other, and a microwave on top of the refrigerator. The closet opens on the bed side, with mirrors on the sliding doors, which was a little odd being directly next to the bed. Standard TV, dresser, night stands, etc... The bathroom was good, with a nice shower, although the tile work around the floor on the bathroom was cracked and off the wall, which you got to look at every time you sat on the toilet. Not a significant thing that should impact your stay, but it's a presentation thing, and honestly something that should be easily identified and remediated.I hate to sound down on this hotel, as it's completely adequate, but for a few more dollars a night, there are significantly better choices within short walking distance.
