Not all rooms have a view so choose carefully. Descriptions and pics can be deceiving as well. You get the room you what you pay for here, but service...

Excellent but.....
Not all rooms have a view so choose carefully. Descriptions and pics can be deceiving as well. You get the room you what you pay for here, but service is excellent no matter what price you pay. Parking lot has extra small spaces, so if you have a big SUV be warned. HOWEVER, great staff, comfy room, great breakfast and location. Go to Fish restaurant and The New Mexican, celebrity chef, for comfort food and fun scene.

Sausalito's Best B & B!
Although business takes me to San Francisco each winter, I have found a marvelous refuge from the hubbub of the city in Sausalito. The Gables Inn, and its marvelous host, Michael, and hostess, Michelle, provides a classy, peaceful, and pleasant place to retreat from the rigors of the day. Unique in that each room is different, the Gables Inn is also close to marvelous attractions, including Muir Woods and Angel Island. Because we've discovered this delightful retreat, my wife and I actually look forward to my west coast obligations each year!

Lovely Inn with fantastic view and great amenities
This Inn has the amenities of a high end hotel but the quaintness of a B & B. We stayed in room 206 which had a fireplace and a large bay window with a fantastic view of the bay and the city. The location was superb within walking distance of many shops and restaurants and a nice little park. The Inn provides wine, cheese and fruit in the evening and breakfast. The room had a refrigerator and snacks were in the room for a small fee. Aveda toiletries were provided and the towels were very thick, plush. The bathroom had a combo whirlpool tub/shower and good counter space. Women will appreciate the high quality hair dryer. The room had very comfortable bed, sofa, dining table, and large flat screen TV. Highly recommend .

A Gem of an Inn in Sausalito
Can't say enough about this gem of an inn. From its prime location just skipping distance from the Sausalito waterfront and SF ferry and gracious, informative host Michael to its scrumptious, health-conscious breakfast and spacious room, this charming inn is a great getaway for business traveller and tourist alike. We loved our well-appointed room (even our 10 yr old commented) and innkeeper Michael offered any number of helpful travel tips (like how to avoid the crowds at Muir Woods). And waking up to that welcoming Sausalito blue sky, well, we wished we had booked a full week. The local ferry is an easy jaunt into the city and a great ride. Whether you are a couple looking for a getaway or a family looking for a soft landing in a new town, choose The Gables Inn for a memorable experience.

2nd Visit
This was my 2nd visit to the Gables Inn Sausalito and again I was very impressed. Above everything, the people at the Inn are so nice, especially Sis. During the wine and cheese hour (which was superb every day!) she always had a nice story and pleasant demeanor i.e lighting the fireplace, introducing guest to each other. This trip we stayed in the Buckeye room, I was a bit fearful of street noise, the room is located on the first floor but I had nothing to worry about. Very peaceful! My companion is allergic to down. When we booked our accommodations for Sausalito, Big Sur and Los Angeles, The Gables Inn was the only hotel that remembered and honored our request for no down. Their attention to detail and hospitality makes this hotel #1 when staying in the Bay area
