Staff saves the day
We were in town for a wedding. Stayed three nights at Washington Marriott, and it seems to be showing its age. I had the feeling they were economizing on everything they possibly could, but giving as little as possible. Now don't get me wrong. The staff was fantastic. Exceptional. But the bed sheets wouldn't stay on because they were so far beyond expiration date. No nice little amenities... not even a little message pad by the phone. Chintzy little coffee arrangement ... and it was all decaf (grrr) The windows don't open, so linens and our clothing took on a certain clamminess. Liked the location, and perhaps I am hypercritical because I held Marriott above the rest. Sadly, if this is any indication, that is no longer the case.

Average property, average rooms, average average average
I've stayed at a lot of Marriotts. Some are fantastic, some are less than fantastic, some are average. The good thing is - I've never had an awful experience... The bad thing is - I've stayed at a lot of Marriotts and I'm tired of seeing the same thing.Marriotts cater to the business traveler so i can understand why they value consistency but once I'd like to be wowed at a Marriott. Not at Modern, not at a JW Marriott, just a regular Marriott. The rooms here were neat, clean and orderly. The staff was friendly.All hotels need to pay more attention to the cleanliness of their vents and ceiling tiles in the shower/bathroom area. That's just an fyi in case anyone from Marriott happens to read this - clean your vents. Good experience, clean rooms, friendly staff (the young man at the front desk was especially helpful locating a pizza at 4 a.m....thanks for that!)Dear Marriott, I love you. Please wow me. Good hotel, great staff
Stayed here for 4 nights on the 9th floor. Staff were excellent, very helpful and courteous. Rooms are good, cleaning excellent. Food menu and bar ambiance uninspiring but that would be my only negative. Other than that I would definitely stay here again.

Decent hotel at Prime location
I got a very good deal at Priceline for this hotel ($100 including tax). Regardless of PL booking we've been given a nice king-size bed room at 8th floor. The room was relatively modern and very clean. The only complain is that the windows don't open, so it got a bit stuffy even with AC. Perhaps, I just wanted some fresh air. There is no WiFi in the room, only in the lobby. Don't use the self-parking ($36/night), there is another entrance into the same garage (Capital Parking?) and they charge $21-29 per night. Didn't try breakfast or gym. The location is perfect. 10 min walk to Georgetown, Dupont Circle, etc. The surround area is nice. There is a construction across the street, but it was quiet. If the price is right - highly recommended.

Excellent Staff-Walking distance to the blue and orange line metro
Everyone, from the valets to the front desk staff, was courteous and helpful. The young man working the front desk the weekend of May 4, 2013 (tall, thin, long braids neatly pulled back) was a delight. Helpful and extremely friendly. Another staff member very thoughtfully took me outside on Sunday morning and physically pointed out the direction of our restaurant for breakfast (Bread and Chocolate-great breakfast fare). We were upgraded due to being Gold Rewards Members and the room was very nice. Were able to check in super early (9:30) and start our day of sightseeing. The only quibble? No "welcome package" that we usually get for being rewards members, no clear instructions in the room on how to access our free wifi benefit, and the valet managed to mix up our valet tag with the other family we were traveling with. Otherwise, perfect!
