Nice place to stay
Courtyard Marriott in Old Town Pasadena is a nice place to stay. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Lobby is open and large with fireplace, sofas, chairs, 3 computers for general use, 2 more for airlines/boarding passes. Staff is super helpful and friendly - and that goes for everyone we encountered - desk staff, concierge, valets, housekeeping, even the guy serving coffee. Location is good, too. Only a few blocks from Colorado Blvd where you can find lots of shops & restaurants. We have family that lives in town so transportation was easy for us. But, I overheard staff talking to others about how to get around and it sounded like there were several reasonable options. We stayed 5 nights and were able to get a really good rate for 4 nights. For some crazy reason the 5th night cost $34 more than the other 4. I like Marriott hotels in general and would definitely go back to the Courtyard in Pasadena.

Ok hotel, but older and starting to show it.
When I arrived I was immediately greeted by the valet staff and was directed to the parking garage so I could park after checking in. It is a multilevel garage and you can park on the same floor as your room. If you have a room on the front side of the hotel (Fair Oaks Ave), it will be a long walk from the garage. Speaking of that side of the hotel, it can be loud with sirens and such in the evening hours. I'm a sound sleeper and had no issues with sleeping though. The hotel staff is very nice and courteous. The hotel itself, is just OK. The hallway carpets were definitely showing their age. The positive in the hallways was that the lighting did use brighter 'white' bulbs instead of dingy yellow bulbs used in most hotels. This was a welcome benefit that I obviously felt was worth noting. The internet speeds were very consistently good all 3 nights I was there and didn't slow down in the peak times. The TV was nice and actually had HD channels to go with the HD TV (again, many hotels fail here). The 2-3 shows I did watch were more like I would have been doing at home. They were doing carpet cleaning during my stay and my carpet was cleaned while I was out the first day. It was quite dry upon my return around 8pm that evening.Again, a large enough hotel that has nothing terribly wrong. Just maybe a picky guest? I definitely prefer the Springhill Suites by Marriott to most Courtyards. My stay was the last week of April with a Monday check in and Thursday check out.

Five Star Service From A Three Star Hotel!
This is the place to stay when you have Huntington taste on a Courtyard budget. The hotel is located in the heart of Old Town Pasadena -just a two block walk from Colorado Blvd. You can leave your car in the self-park garage, or valet park for the weekend. No need to use the car again until Monday- because Pasadena's restaurants, shops, movie theater, salons, The Norton Simon are all within walking distance. If you want to pop down to downtown Los Angeles the Metro is just a three minute walk from the hotel. The Courtyard staff are VERY professional - a hotel guest can tell this not just a job to them. Having stayed here four times in the past year I have found check-in to be quick and welcoming. The concierge desk will arrange last minute reservations without batting an eye. The rooms are a good size and well decorated. Comfortable king size beds, a small sofa, mini-fridge, and quick internet make work related stays productive. The courtyard does have a small restaurant for breakfast; with Pasadena's Old Town right outside the hotel -go explore.

Ideal location - well priced for Pasadena
A couple of weeks ago, I went to Pasadena with 3 gal pals for a fun weekend and we stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott. We pulled into the driveway and were immediately greeted by the valet staff. We advised them that we'd be doing our own parking , self-parking is $15.00/day - I gave my name for the two rooms and we went inside to check in. The front desk staff was very nice and check in went smoothly. Within a few minutes, we were back outside and the two cars already had their parking stickers on the front windows and we were directed to the parking garage. It is a multilevel garage and we parked on the same floor as our rooms - room key gets you access to the hallways. It was a very busy weekend at the hotel, with a big group holding meetings, and the courtyard rooms that I had requested were not available. We wanted a quiet location and we were given rooms that surely were quiet, but had absolutely no view except for roofs of the commercial buildings adjacent. No worries, we weren't planning on staying in the room much. The room was comfortably set up, but I always have the same complaint about not enough towel hooks in the bathroom. There just wasn't enough space to hang towels. The bathroom was a nice size and there is actually room for a small cabinet between the toilet and the tub which would be convenient for utility bags, etc. Shower head was nice . The sink is outside the toilet/tub area, well lit and the mirrored door on the closet was a big plus. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. We didn't use the coffee/tea in the room; there was a refrigerator and microwave in each room, cleverly concealed by cabinets - so concealed, my girlfriends didn't realize they were there. We didn't use the AC or heat so I can't comment on that. You might want to check that the alarm clock from the previous guest is turned to off so you are not awakened at the crack of dawn, as my friends were. Also, turn down the volume on the phone.Housekeeping had a hiccup - the room that two of my friends occupied didn't get serviced on the first full day we were there. The housekeeper was embarrassed that she forgot to take care of the room.Pasadena hotels are very expensive and the senior rate of $152.00 plus taxes was quite acceptable. The hotel is very conveniently located; however, since we had theater tix for the Pasadena Playhouse and dinner reservations, we did have to take one of our cars. Parking in the public lots in Pasadena max out at $7.00, which is pretty good considering what parking can cost in LA.The Rose Bowl Flea Market is open the 2nd Sunday of the month and that was a big reason for choosing Pasadena as a destination. Parking a the flea market is horrible. The place is huge and draws big crowds. As flea markets go, it was just okay. I think what draws a lot of people are the vintage furniture and antique vendors. Decorators would have a field day. We weren't too impressed with the new merchandise - typical flea market fare. Fortunately, the weather was pleasantly cool and overcast. No heat stroke in the Bowl!On our last day of the weekend, we did walk from the hotel to the neighboring streets and window shopped and had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory before heading home in different directions. Please, if you are in a room and find something out of order or not to your liking, be sure to notify the hotel staff. Hotel maintenance is a huge job and if "broken anything" is not reported, the repair becomes more costly. All in all, a very nice Pasadena weekend.

Stay here
What a great hotel! Great people, great atmosphere! I usually stay at the Hilton when I come to Pasadena and I regret that it took three times coming here before I tried out the Courtyard. Within 30 minutes of being there I had gotten a complimentary breakfast coupon, a bag of goodies (with extra chocolates as they could tell I digged those), and a water and fruit plate brought to me poolside.
