I only stayed here because of the booking made by conference organisers. This is certainly not a 4 star property: the first allocated room was on a higher floor (as requested) however it was not refurbished: old busted up, stained, dusty, dirty, horrible furniture; dirty, scuffed, stained walls, disgusting carpets ¿¿¿ it was truly shocking. On the way back to the reception I did manage to use complimentary computers in the lobby to check if any other hotels were available, just in case there were no other rooms that Thon could offer.I requested another room: the initial comment from the receptionist was ¿¿¿Have you used anything in the first one? Can I sell it again?¿¿¿ Sell it? Really? I was given a refurbished room second time: it was ok ¿¿¿ re-designed and looking slightly better, however it felt cheap: cheap furniture, cheap finishes, a small TV ¿¿¿ more like a premier inn room. It was clean, but again - far from what one can expect from a 4 star property. The bathroom had the same ¿¿¿cheap¿¿¿ feel about it: thin, already-not-white towels, universal soap-shampoo-conditioner dispenser rather than individual bottles (and no, it was not L'OCCITANE en Provence).Internet is not automatically free: my rate did include it but I understand others had to pay. I did not try their breakfast ¿¿¿ the space where breakfast is served downstairs is absolutely vast and I do not think organic bacon and to-order eggs would have been on offer.To sum up: if you have a choice, avoid: do you research and go for a proper standard/customer satisfaction (rather than cost saving) driven hotel/chain.

Stayed 2 nights on a business trip at this self-described "the major 4-star hotel". As a business traveller I was concerned that my shirts were creased up while getting there so I needed to iron them. There was no mention of an iron in the room on the website and when I arrived I learned you cannot borrow one from reception but there is an "ironing room". As this is a hotel with dozens of rooms over 20 floors I expected a vast sweatshop of guests steaming away. No. The "room" is an oversized cupboard with 2 ironing boards and 2 irons which you can't refill with water unless you ask for staff help. I don't know if this is a cost issue but it seems odd the room had an inbuilt hairdryer anyway so why not an iron too? The breakfast is a typical self-service buffet style like many other hotels and has the usual stuff BUT EUR27 each!!!! On a plus side the location is close walking distance to most areas and the bedroom was clean and ok size for a short stay.

I stayed one week in this hotel in April/May 2013. I booked in the Internet (hotel webpage) and paid in advance to get the lower fare. I got a confirmation message from an email address reply@ian.com without VAT information and the identification of the legal entity. I asked for a valid receipt and they replied that I should contact the hotel. I exchanged several emails with the hotel and a telephone call but they didn't provide an invoice and tried to redirect me again to the agent (a company named Expedia, from Las Vegas that I never saw in the previous transactions). I gave up but I'll not be able to get a reimbursement for this hotel expense!The hotel is nice but some rooms are quite old and noisy (old windows). The beds in the old rooms are terrible.

booked this hotel for a break with 2 other couples and after booking became a bit worried by some of the reviews i was reading. Should not have worried the room was small but perfect for a short city break, great location an reception staff were very helpful. We ordered extra pillows and i has forgotten my travel adaptor and both were delivered in 5 mins. Breakfast was great and the freshly squeezed orange juice was amazing. All in all a great trip and would highly recommend a day trip to Brugge

This hotel seems to have received a fair few negative reviews, which I think are probably unfair. The location is fine for Brussels North and the centre (and clearly advertised, so you can't really complain!). It is fairly comfortable, everything in the room worked, and the bathroom was pretty clean.The negatives are probably the main entrance/bar/breakfast room - a huge dimly lit space trying too hard to be trendy (but leaving on a slight headache) and the experience of breakfast. No complaints about the food - plenty and OK quality - but its a huge bunflight given the sheer numbers of people and the space, especially as many large tours seem to use this hotel. Otherwise fine, and perfectly acceptable compared to other business hotels of a similar price.
