Astoria Hotel Barcelona, do not miss!
We went to visit Barcelona in mid- April to get so much needed sun. We have been to Barcelona a number of times and booked the Astoria when we got a great 4 day deal. The Hotel is excellent, very clean and modern. The staff were excellent and very helpful and patient. The rooftop terrace is great for relaxing after a long day. A glass of wine and just sit and look out across the city to the sea.The hotel is in a great location which is a residential and commercial area with lots of good shops and restuarants. It is not a heavy tourist area and you get to have your morning coffee and breakfast with the locals (I recommend Cafe Paris which is just on the corner, excellent!) The Trobador Restuarant is right beside the hotel and the staff were excellent and helpful. The manager was particularly helpful and replaced a bottle of wine which was undrinkable with a very good wine without fuss. The Argentinian style steak is worth waiting for. There is a taxi rank right beside the hotel and a metro withing 10 mins walk which will bring you down to La Rambla (why you need to go there is your business, we found it crowded and tacky) But try the Patagonia bar mid way down as the staff are friendly and there is a good atmsophere there with good views from upstairs out onto the streets.Overall I cannot recommend The Astoria any stronger. It is convenient to the sights but has a lovely laid back feel and you get to mix with the locals and not the crowds of tourists working to an itnerary. It suited us just fine as all we wanted was a place to relax and take in some warm sun.

The Caesar again...
My third time in this fabulous hotel came again!! And it was for business as well. My stay was amazing, i love the area, i was impressed once again about the customer service in general. This time i chose a DeLuxe room for my two days stay and it is very convenient if you travel for business, it has a living room area with sofa which is also very suitable to relax. The bathroom was refurbished in brown tiles and very modern decorated. Next day i joint the breakfast, with a discount voucher i was given by the Reception team and it was superb with great variety such as the famous ¿¿¿tortilla de patatas¿¿¿, tomato bread, lovely Spanish ham and a wide range of yogurts, cereals and fruits, also you have the option to join the complete English breakfast, ¿¿¿the breakfast of champions¿¿¿. I always recommend this hotel because in my opinion is a different hotel in many aspects. Finally, as soon as i left the hotel i was planning my fourth time here. Also, my business issues were successful, lucky Caesar?

Perfect birthday treat
I booked this hotel as a birthday surprise for my girlfriend. After reading the reviews, I telephoned the hotel to confirm the booking and to find out what type of room I had been given. When we arrived, everything was beyond my expectation. The hotel lobby was crisp and clean and we were greeted by very accomodating staff. After checking in, we got to the room - which was fantastic! On the second floor, we were overlooking the gardens at the front. The room was spacious and very elegantly decorated. Airy, exceptionally clean and a complimentary bottle of water and small platter of grapes/cinnamon almonds. I couldn't have asked for more.We settled at the hotel for the evening and booked a meal in the fabulously set out XO restaurant located on the lower levels. Our 3 course meal was one of the best I have ever had, and was well priced considering we were in the capital!This was a perfect stay and a delightful birthday present for my girlfriend.My only comments are this...1 - try to book this hotel when there is a deal. I would have begrudged paying the full tariff of up to ¿¿300 as it seemed a lot if you intend to then spend further money sightseeing around London (when travelling as a one off London IS expensive!)2 - we had our views obscured by unsightly scaffolding, but maintence on the building made this unavoidable.All in all, we had a fantastic stay, and the accomodation/staff/food are all an accolade which the Derby Hotel chain should be very proud of.

Terrific
This is a great choice for London visit. The hotel is quiet, conveniently located near Paddington, Hyde Park and Underground. Located on street of lovely buildings and a park. the staff is helpful. The room very comfortable especially the deluxe with separate sitting area. Bathroom large and furnishings interesting and stylish. Breakfast not included but great value and free wi if.

Fabulous People, Lovely Hotel
I stayed at The Caesar on business last week and was utterly delighted with the hotel, the staff and the entire experience. The staff cannot do enough for you. The room was clean, stylish and there was everything you could possibly need. A really enjoyable experience, I'll definitely be staying there again. A special thank you to the bar staff... helpful and utterly wondrous! Never been made to feel so welcome anywhere.
