I never had a such experience in a hotel. When I arrived in this hotel after reservation i had a really bad surprise. The receptionist said me the hotel was in over booking so he offered me a room without bathroom and i declined this ridiculous offer and I run away from this place. It wa like a nightmare. Very bad experience.

This hotel is under renovation - but no advert tells you that. There is no public area and they have no confidence of a date when it will be finished. Thus there is no breakfast or restaurant facilities or even any hot drinks facilities in the compact rooms.Surprised that Best Western aren't aware of the condition. The standard or the renovated rooms are good, but the corridors, lift areas and stair case are not finished. Just be aware....

I booked this hotel as part of a package ticket plus hotel deal with Eurostar. It looks as though other reviewers have commented on its refurbishment which is well done in the bedrooms, but the lobby is tired and unwelcoming. The receptionist was very helpful with arranging storage of my luggage whilst I attended a business meeting elsewhere in the city and volunteered to arrange transportation to the airport or station on my departure. I did not have breakfast at the hotel as I had spotted a small cafe about 5 minutes walk from the hotel which was cheaper and had a livelier atmosphere.I wonder if only the 4th floor is available as that is where I was boarded too. The bathroom was tiny, and the shower was almost impossible to get into as the toilet blocked most of the entry. Given the lack of catering facilities I was disappointed that there wasn't even scope to make a cuppa! Good job there are lots of cafes and bars nearby!In summary - okay as an overnight stop for one, but not feasible for a family.

I booked the hotel last minute because we decided to stay an extra night in Paris. The hotel was under renovation and it smelt like paint everywhere. The receptionist was arrogant and did multiple things while checking us in. One month later I notice on my visa statement that I have been charged twice for the same night. I filled a report and two months later, I am still waiting for my refund. Next time I am going back to Paris, This hotel is definitely on the no-go list.

As i had booked this hotel at short notice i had not read any reviews, the booking facility did not indicate that this hotel was undergoing major renovations and had been since last March! I am loathe to write bad things unneccesarily but this was supposed to be a three star hotel. We waited in reception whilst the receptionist answered three phone calls whilst we checked in which gave us the opportunity to look at the boarded up workings where the public facilities should have been, once checked in we travelled to the fourth floor and searched for our room with some difficulty we found a door with room 401 written on it about the size of this typeface behind which was our bedroom door. This room although newly renovated contained very basic furnishing (metal chair no cushion) and not picture on the walls and rather small overall dimensions, but a comfortable bed. The bathroom had a good shower facility but you could not sit on the loo facing forward if you had long legs. Although there was a menu to order room service this was not available because the public rooms and any food making facilities were not existant because they were still being rebuilt. This room was still being advertised for a rate of 210 Euros on the reception counter per night andwhislt i did not pay this rate what i did pay 105 Euros i feel was way over the top for a hotel with most of its facilities denied to you, fortunately we were only here for two nights and spent our time sightseeing Paris good job the weather was kind to us because I could not envisage staying in our bedroom alone in inclement weather. The free wifi only lasts for 24 hours then you have to pay for it so to advertise free wifi throughout the hotel is misleading. The staff were at pains on checkout to explain that they had had contractual difficulties with the builders and had sacked them and new people appointed to complete the works, which were still extensive, the stairways were concrete steps with electric fittings hanging from the walls on your descent from the fourth floor and the lift barely big enough for two people without luggage. We have stayed with best western before and booked because of their reputation and previous experience with them but feel that this reputation is seriously tarnished here and they should look closer at the management of renovations such as this. I understand it will be at least another three months before this hotel is finished off and it may be worth reporting on it when finished.The location of the hotel was convenient for the metro and access to all the sights but is in quite a sleezy area with hundreds of men hanging about the place with not anything perceptable to do which was quite scary for my wife who is a delicate sort but we have travelled all over the world and not felt as threatened by hotel surroundings before.We obseved a number of other Best Western hotels around Paris of three star ratings and they looked much better than the Aulivia at similar face cost of around 220 Euros, which we feel is excessive compared to other capital cities we have stayed in, even at 105 Euros this hotel did not compare to The Ibis London Euston which i recently reviewed.
