Good but expensive
Stay for 5 nights on a business trip and the hotel is good but price not include breakfast and Internet. The area around is ok but there are some drunk people down a few blocks. There is not much to do around the hotel. The pool is a good place to go. The Steak house I think is a bit over priced but still very full even at 10 PM.

Swank
This is a beautiful hotel. Rooms are luxurious with large bathrooms and dressing areas.Located near the convention center. If there are no conventions the room rates will be quite reasonable. Lots of nearby restaurants of high quality.

Nice Hotel Downtown San Jose
The Fairmont, San Jose, California is a newer hotel located in the heart of downtown. It can be a little pricey, as most Fairmonts are, but this one doesn't quite live up to it's namesake. Rooms are nice and the staff well attentive. There is a hefty charge for parking (valet only) but if you are driving a hybrid the cost is halved. The lounge is very crowded and loud on weekends, so if you want a quieter place there are many alternatives within walking distance. It is conveniently located close to many venues in San Jose including the Center for performing Arts, the California Theater (San Jose Opera). the HP Pavilion (The Shark Tank), Montgomery Theater and the Civic Auditorium to name a few. Many restaurants are also close by. Be careful of the mini bar in the room. It is the type that automatically charges your room if you lift one of the selections. This includes what appear to be complimentary water, wine and snacks set on top of the mini bar. If you accidentally remove an item call the desk and they will remove the charge. There is also a charge for internet. It always amazes me that in this country the more expensive the room, the more additional charges.Over all, it is a nice place to stay if you are visiting San Jose. Easy to get to from the airport via rental car, taxi or light rail.

Worth the price.
My only complaint was that check in took a bit too long. Other than the initial issue we really enjoyed our stay at the Fairmont. The room was clean and very nice with a great view. The pancakes in the restaurant are really delicious.

Comfortable, quiet and not cheap
Have stayed here multiple times - both in the older main hotel and in the new wing across the plaza. Rooms are of decent size, always immaculate, beds are quite comfortable. Tends to get a fair bit of convention business and on occasion the late night revelers can wake you up. Large lounge as central portion of lobby, has live music on the weekends and it can become quite crowded. Staff quite responsive. Located within walking distance to much of San Jose restaurants and night life.
