Q: Can I cancel or make changes to my booking?

A: All bookings made on Hotwire are final and cannot be refunded. If your package includes a Retail Fare ticket, you can make changes for a fee plus any applicable fare increase. However, the rest of your package (hotel and/or car booking) remains non-refundable, non-changeable and non-transferable. Therefore, if you choose to change your Retail Fare ticket to a later date, you forfeit the other portions of your package. Your Retail Fare ticket retains its full value for one year from the date of booking. If you want to make a change to your reservation, you must cancel your itinerary before the original travel date -- -otherwise the airline will invalidate your ticket and it will hold no value for future travel. You must call us to change or cancel your reservation.

If you've booked a FlexSaver Fare or a Clearance Fare, your reservations cannot be cancelled, refunded, changed, exchanged, or transferred. Change fees are not an option. Credit cannot be given for any unused airline tickets. Once you make a booking on our site, your credit card will be charged for the total price shown -- regardless of whether the airline tickets are used. If our travel partners can be absolutely confident that the products they sell through Hotwire will be used in the exact way they were sold, they can offer deeply discounted airline tickets. These restrictions enable our partners to better manage their unsold seats, and are a big reason why they can offer you great deals through Hotwire. This results in airfares that are often well below the Retail fares that Hotwire also offers, or the published prices you would get from any other travel website or travel agent.

In order to make a booking on our site, you must agree to Hotwire's Terms of Use for the fare you are booking: Clearance Fare, FlexSaver Fare or Retail Fare.

If you are concerned about the possibility of emergency situations that would require you to change your plans, you may want to consider purchasing Trip Protection, a low-cost insurance program that provides trip cancellation/interruption coverage. Trip Protection covers unexpected events, including medical emergencies, strikes, natural disasters, and bad weather. Trip Protection does not offer coverage for change of plans due to non-emergency situations. You can purchase Trip Protection up until your check-in date. Q: Can I add another person to my package after I've made my booking?

A: If another person wishes to travel on the same flight that you already booked, Hotwire cannot guarantee that they will be able to book a seat on the same flight. For example, if you book one ticket and get Flight #123 and then book another ticket (with the same exact preferences), you could get flight #234 for this second booking. Though if you search for the flight separately, it's possible that you may find the same flight with a retail fare, in which case you will be able to see the flight details to ensure you are booking the other person on the same flight.

If you need to book more than one seat on a flight, please be sure to specify the exact number of airline tickets you wish to book on the Flights Preferences page. (You can book up to eight seats at a time.)

The rate also takes into consideration the number of rooms you requested, so this cannot be changed either. If you attempt to book another room at the same hotel, there is no guarantee you will get the same hotel (unless you are booking another package, which allows you to see the exact property).

For car rentals, any additional drivers must be present and added to your car rental agreement when you pick up the rental car. There will be a charge for any additional drivers. Hotwire's car rental rates cover only one driver. Please note that any additional drivers must be at least 25 years of age. They will need to provide a valid driver's license and a credit card in their own name with a minimum available credit of $200. If optional items are elected for purchase (e.g., insurance), additional available credit -- above the initial $200 -- will be required. Please note that the amount of available credit that is necessary varies, depending on the type of car and the rental period. Debit cards will not be accepted at the rental counter.

Q: How do I know if my reservation went through?

A: Once you've reached the confirmation page, you're done! You should also receive a confirmation email from Hotwire, detailing your itinerary. If you do not receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of completing your booking, please contact Hotwire Customer Care. Within the U.S. and Canada, our associates can be reached toll-free at 1-877-HOTWIRE (468-9473). Outside the U.S. and Canada, please call 1-920-634-3150 (regular toll charges apply).

You can also check all your Hotwire bookings by clicking the "My Account" link at the top of any page. If you are signed in, you'll be able to view your bookings.

Q: Do I need to reconfirm my reservation?

A: It's not required, but if your package includes any air travel, we recommend that you contact the airline directly on the day of departure to verify the status of your flight. We'll send you email notifications of all schedule changes as we receive them from the airline, but last-minute delays may not be relayed in time. You can check for delays by either calling the airline or checking the airline's Web site.

The email notifications we send will be delivered to the email address associated with the account of the person who made the booking. For example, if you book a ticket for someone else, the email will be sent to the address we have on file for you. (The confirmation email is sent to the same email address.)
