A: Hotwire works with Access America to insure against rental car losses or damages. This policy covers physical damage to a rental car, up to a maximum of $40,000, which is caused by a collision, fire, storm, vandalism or theft and occurs during the rental period (maximum 45 days). This competitively priced coverage is primary. Primary coverage pays before any coverage that is secondary. It also includes a 24-Hour Help Hotline. A staff of multi-lingual problem solvers is available to help you gain access to local resources and information you need to solve a medical, legal or travel related emergency.

A: Rental Car Protection is set at a daily rate. Each calendar day counts as a separate day of coverage. For example, a car picked up at 9am on Monday and returned at 8am on Tuesday counts as 2 days of coverage.

A: During the Hotwire checkout process, you will be given the opportunity to purchase Car Rental Protection. If you choose to buy Rental Car Protection, it will be listed as a charge from Access America on your credit card statement.
Within 10 days of purchasing the program, Access America will process a full refund of insurance premium to you, as long as you have not already departed on your trip or filed a claim. No refunds shall be paid to you after 10 days of purchasing the program.
If you do not buy Rental Car Protection during the Hotwire booking process, you may still contact Access America directly and get coverage up until the day before the rental car pick-up. A: When you reserve a car through Hotwire at a nondiscounted, regular rate, actual rental charges will be billed by the agency when you return the car. However, if you purchased Rental Car Protection, you already paid Access America for the insurance during the checkout process and do not need to purchase it when you pick up the car.
For rental cars booked at a Hotwire Limited Rate, your account will be charged for the full rental amount — including applicable tax recovery charges and fees — when you complete your booking. If you purchased Rental Car Protection, you will also be charged by Access America for the insurance amount at the time of booking.
Please bring a copy of your confirmation to the rental agency when you pick up the car.

A: All Rental Car Protection claims and questions are handled by Access America. Completing a claim form takes just minutes. To begin the process, call a claims specialist toll-free at 1-800-334-7525. Please note that Access America may request information from you — such as travel documents, proof of payments, etc. After your documentation is received and Access America determines that you have a payable claim, you should receive payment within 5 to 7 business days.
