A: Domestic Travel: One child, less than 24 months of age, may travel free of charge within the U.S. when accompanied by an adult. Federal regulations permit adult passengers to hold an infant in their laps (under 24 months of age). If you do not want your child to sit on your lap for the duration of the flight or prefer the use of a car seat, you will need to book a separate airline ticket. In addition, the airlines permit only one lap child per adult traveler. You'll need to book an airline seat for each infant exceeding the number of adult travelers.
International Travel: When traveling internationally, all children and infants must have an airline ticket even if they will be sitting on an adult's lap. Airlines prefer children to remain properly secured in their seats during the flight. All passengers, including children and infants, are required to secure passports in their own names. (Because of our specially negotiated low airfares, Hotwire does not sell discount infant or child airfares.)
Hotwire does not offer any discount child fares. In many cases, the airfares we show you are lower than a standard discount airline ticket.

A: Pets are allowed on flights booked through Hotwire, subject to the airline's individual restrictions. Hotwire cannot guarantee that you will be able to travel with your pet. Many carriers do not permit pets to be checked as luggage during certain hot or cold weather periods. Additional restrictions apply to pets traveling internationally. Small pets may also be carried in the passenger cabin, subject to each airline's individual restrictions.
Please note that there will be additional fees for traveling with a pet. These fees must be paid directly to the airline at the time of check-in. More complete information may be obtained from our airline partners' Web sites after you have booked your ticket. Please contact the airline directly (in advance of the departure date) to make the necessary arrangements for a pet. If the airline cannot accommodate your pet, Hotwire cannot provide refunds on booked airline tickets. Therefore, if you must travel with our pet, we recommend booking directly with one of our airline partners.
Seeing-eye dogs and other service animals are always accommodated at no additional charge, but please be sure to contact the airline directly to make the necessary arrangements (after you complete your booking).
