Why do you like working at Hotwire?

How many people do you know that can actually say they enjoy where they work? I didn't know many until I started working at Hotwire. I, as you might expect, thrive on the idea and act of traveling, and to be surrounded by others that feel the same way is truly energetic. This isn't one of those stuffy, corporate-world settings you might picture. The casual dress code, the continual team and company events, and the random massage day all make Hotwire the laid back, fun, and innovative place that it is. When I talk about a typical day at work, people often ask, "Where do you work and can I join?" in awe that a company like Hotwire actually exists. I can't speak highly enough of my experience at Hotwire and when I think of a place that I would want to work for a lifetime, this is it.

The reasons I've enjoyed working at Hotwire have never changed in the years I've been here. First and foremost are my coworkers. Hotwire always hires talented, brilliant people that take pride in their work, and we challenge one another to do our best. This is not true of every company and is the main reason that Hotwire is such a great place to work. Secondly, our business consistently innovates to keep up with the complex travel industry, which translates into great technical challenges for the engineering team. In other words, the job is never boring because we need to be on our toes, move quickly, and dream up new ways to solve challenges. Finally, Hotwire is a fun place to work! We celebrate often, joke around always, and we're constantly traveling around the world (I really love working for a travel company). Although we work really hard we also have balance which (again) is not something every company can say.

I LOVE working at Hotwire. There are many reasons why: a fabulous working environment (the best I have ever known), regular events that allow the whole company to get together for work and fun, innovative ways to maintain morale (Hotwire Idol) and work/life balance (on-site massage). I truly appreciate all of these things, especially in such a challenging business climate, but the real reason that I consider myself so lucky to be part of Hotwire is the management culture. From the executive team down, communication is frequent, open and honest, which helps me to see the real value in my own contributions. My direct manager encourages me to have visibility into many different aspects of our business, giving me the experience to achieve my goals and the opportunity to grow - personally and professionally. I have thrived at Hotwire!

Working at Hotwire, I'm reminded daily of how lucky of a guy I am to be employed at such a great company! From the location to the people - I couldn't have asked for a better place to work. Coming from the agency world, I was a little nervous to transition to the other side of the business, but Hotwire made that transition seamless. The people here are what really make the difference - intelligent, hardworking, fun and always supportive - they've created a culture that, as cliché as it sounds, really is like one big happy family! And being someone who is constantly bit by the travel bug, I must say our travel perks are fantastic as well. Applying to Hotwire was one of the best decisions I've made thus far in my career.

I enjoy working at Hotwire because the casual atmosphere offers the opportunity to approach anyone in any department regardless of hierarchy. This creates great communication and teamwork which allows us to be efficient and achieve our goals. I also really enjoy the company events and perks of free drinks, as well as working with a great team.

One of the most rewarding things about working here is the work itself. Hotwire prides itself on efficiency and quick execution, which means that we get to be part of high-impact projects that go live within months and affect millions of global customers. On my second day on the job, I was already placed on a project and working with a small, fun team. And within two months, I was able to visit Hotwire.com and show off my work to friends and family! That kind of responsibility and satisfaction was completely unexpected as a new hire and recent college graduate.

It is difficult finding a workplace you enjoy and respect. Most people spend all of their lives looking for "the dream job" and fail miserably. Working at Hotwire has truly been a life-changing experience for me. I NEVER had a job I enjoy so much! Hotwire is a community of people who enjoy life, love travel and value team spirit. Hotwire celebrates individual achievements, fosters growth, and keeps it fun by creating awesome team building events such as our most recent Hotwire Idol. This event allowed me the opportunity to do what I am most passionate about outside of the workplace, which is sing. Hotwire will always hold a special place in my heart because they support and appreciate me like no other company has and that I will cherish forever.

I have worked at Hotwire for just about 5 years and I must say it is the best place I have worked. The corporate culture is work hard-play hard. The open office work environment is conducive to cross departmental sharing of information. Of course the travel perks are one of the many benefits of working at Hotwire. I was able to join a colleague in Shanghai for 10 days -- business class tickets -- free. We always have great insight to the most relevant travel deals and they are always of great value! We are part of a large organization, Expedia, but act as a small startup. If you have an idea, you can walk up to the President's cube and present the idea. No idea is ever looked upon as silly or not viable.

Hotwire offers employees upward mobility and career development, flexibility, great work/life balance, and many opportunities to get involved. Hotwire also offers its employees many opportunities to get involved in the community. During my time at Hotwire we've adopted families for Christmas, cleaned beaches, tutored children, and participated in food and clothing drives. As Expedia Inc. employees, Hotwire employees can apply for the WHA program, where employees can commit to using their work skills to help impoverished communities. Last year WHA volunteers went to Baja Mexico to promote eco-friendly tourism. Hotwire is filled with intelligent, well-rounded individuals.

Hotwire has provided an environment that has given me opportunities to showcase my talents by taking on complex and fulfilling projects. I've also been able to expand my skill set due to the nature of these projects. Hotwire has allowed me the room to grow as a professional in ways I haven't seen or heard in other companies. The best part of Hotwire is the people. Smart, energetic and most importantly fun, Hotwire employees work hard and enjoy themselves immensely while they are at it!
