Once the Hot-Rates® are displayed, you'll have two hours to complete the booking process. If you exceed the two-hour window, the Hot-Rates® for this search will expire. Rental agencies typically operate on a 24-hour billing cycle.
For example, if you pick up your rental car on Tuesday at 10AM and return it on Wednesday at or before 10AM, you would be charged for one rental day.
Rental agencies generally offer 1-hour grace periods. In the example above, if you returned the car after 11AM Wednesday (more than 25 hours after the pick-up time), you would be charged for a second day.
Many rental agencies accept only credit cards as a deposit for pickup. If you choose to use a debit card, we will filter your Hotwire Hot Rate search results to those companies that allow its use. Nondiscounted, regular-rate search results may include cars from agencies that accept only credit cards. Should you choose to use a debit card for your deposit, please contact the rental agency for its debit card policy as rules and regulations vary by company and location.
The standard deposit amount of $200 can vary depending on the vendor, car type, and rental period. Please be aware that the deposit amount will be held by the rental agency, and you will not have access to these funds until the vehicle is returned.
Deposit amounts vary by destination. For rentals in Mexico and the Caribbean, typical deposits are US$200. For European rentals, the deposit can be as much as 770 Euros (approximately US$1,000; for current exchange rates, consult your financial institution).
Please be aware that the deposit amount will be held by the rental agency, and you will not have access to these funds until the vehicle is returned.
