decent hotel in ok area
I spent the night here with two friends, we were on a budget so needed an affordable place to stay in LA for the night. The price was great, rooms were fine, not flash but clean and comfortable. The neighbourhood seemed a little questionable but we had no problems walking home late a night.

Its ancient
Its seriously old. Its not dirty per say, but since its so old its unclean. They have lampshades which are at least 50 years old. The bathroom is very very small with prehistoric bath fittings. These fittings have collected grime and stains over the years and hence look very dirty I had booked a queen bedroom and the room was fine for one person, but not for two. The walls are paper thin.The A/C so, noisy that I couldn't sleep the whole night, and it was not even effectively cooling the room. The neighborhood is questionable, though not dangerous. On the first night I went out to get some dinner and the only restaurant in the area was a Thai place. Tried it, didn't like it. So the next day I asked at the reception and they gave me the number of a Chinese place, that was decent. The location of the hotel is good though, its 10 mins walking distance from the red line metro and downtown. This hotel should be one of the last resorts for anybody trying to stay near LA downtown.

Mayfair dump
The hotel needs a good cleaning. Carpeting is worn, dirty, and stained in common areas and rooms. Could also benefit from improved paint and some TLC.Rooms are rather small and not very well decorated. Beds themselves and linen were clean.

Shoddy hotel in bad neighbourhood... but cheap
Only worth it if you get a really cheap rate ($70) and are happy to slum it a bit.This hotel is in a pretty unpleasant neighbourhood - with no decent restaurant, cafe, or bar nearby. It also felt kind of dangerous walking around at night. Whilst it's a 15 walk from the Western side of Downtown, we were here as tourists and so spent the bulk of our time in Hollywood, West Hollywood or the beaches.... So we had to drive A LOT to get to and from this hotel.The hotel itself has a nice looking lobby, but as soon as you get to the rooms, the carpet is old and torn, the bathroom is very tired (with a minuscule shower I couldn't fit into), some fittings are broken, and the room small and stuffy. It wasn't dirty... It's more that every single furnishing looked like it was from the 70s...So - whilst it wasn't a disaster, we wouldn't stay here again unless we had to.

Choose another hotel!
Super small, really old and dirty. Had to back into bathroom if you want to close the door. Very sketchy area of town- drunks and prostitutes right outside. Now we can see why this hotel was used in tv and films as a shady type of hotel.... Had no issues checking out early, hotel must do this many times a day. We saw people leaving non stop, and complaining. We were there 6 hrs and had to get 4 sets of room keys because they stopped working. I am not usually fussy and clean is all I need but you get what you pay for. I think some of the rooms are renovated or larger than others but ours was not one of them an they were "full" so couldn't get us another room. Perhaps they just didnt have any rooms that were better. Wouldn't recommend, unless dirty dusty and moldy don't bother you.
