Great location
After reading some of the reviews, we were concerned about staying at Le Chamois. We were therefore pleasantly surprised when we checked into our room. Yes, the furniture was a bit dated, but we went there for the skiing and not to spend time in our room. We had a spectacular view of the mountain from the ceiling to floor windows. There were two bathrooms, very clean, and lots of towels. The small fridge and microwave were adequate for us to keep some drinks and allow us to cook breakfast in our room. The bed was very comfortable and there was a large screen tv in the bedroom and the living room. Ski storage at the back entrance was perfect. We were able to access our skis easily right at the door and it was only a few steps to get to the lifts. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful when I had problems signing on to the free wifi, which worked extremely well once I was connected. I would be more than pleased to stay there again.

Disappointed after 15+ yrs of patronage
Excellent location for proximity to chair lifts and that is it. Housekeeping has been sloppy under current new management (since Nov 2012). We always stayed in an executive studio. Room quality of furnishings varies a great deal, from good quality to poor (old curtains, small TV, always bad lighting, leaking taps, small bed, old couches). We requested upper floor 5-6 months ahead of time but our request was somehow lost in the system. Room not properly clean. And hospitality seemed to be a lost art. We have been staying for 15+ years, 1-2 weeks every year during the skiing season and sometimes also in the summer, sometimes with friends and family which I recommended them to stay in this hotel. Never had any problem with a late check out (1-2 hrs) with previous managements, which had changed several times. Now this year during our second stay, we were told, like being given an ultimatum, both in writing and orally, in no uncertain terms, that we will be charged for a 2 hr. delayed exit. We weren't eventually, but was told this will be the last time. Their tone sounded like a special favour they were doing us, forgetting that usually a late check-out is normally a rather 'standard' benefit for long term clients. And during a week of unsettled weather, they should expect that clients would want to use the slopes when there is turn for better weather on the day of their check-out? Irene Man from London, UK

Pleasantly surprised!
We travelled to Whistler over President's day weekend, and had a wonderful stay! I waited too long to book, and EVERYTHING was taken...it was frightening. If you book early (as I has the previous year) you can actually get screaming deals. Alas, those deals are meant to soak up unbooked rooms, and, wow, it does the trick! Inventory is completely wiped out after the big sale. I wound up searching daily: Whistler Central ressies, Expedia, individual hotel sites, etc....NOTHING. No rooms. Despair! Suddenly, Le Chamois pops up...one room, good rate, and I grabbed it. Then, my heart sank as I read reviews....eeeewww, it sounded old and run down. Oh well, we would make the best of it! At least it was immediately adjacent to the slopes, even if it was away from the main village.WELL. The place turned out to be fantastic. The room itself was a one bedroom, newly updated with granite counters in the kitchenette and bathroom, new carpet, nice Scandinavian furniture. Very, very, nice. The Hotel lobby is fine as well...nicely appointed (if not 5 star, definitely 3/4 minimum!!), friendly and helpful staff (and we used them a lot!!!!). The location was amazing. The Blackcomb lifts are feet from the door, there are stores and restaurants aplenty, even if there is not the go-go action of the lower village. But the path to the lower village is just across the street, and we timed it to be a 7 minute walk to the Whistler gondola. Now, come on! That is nothing (although a pain with skis, but hey, we had our own lifts steps away, with easy access to all of Blackcomb and Whistler). The place we stayed last year was "in the lower village" but it was at least an 8 minute walk to the lifts! My daughters loved, loved, loved the Chamoix location, even though initially they thought they would not. Le Chamoix has a wonderful ski valet, so you only need to ride the elevator down, step outside, grab your skis, and take a few steps to the lifts. After skiing, you can hits several dining/bar options at the bottom of the Blackcomb lifts, or stow your gear with the valet and make the short walk to livelier action in the lower village. Perfect for us! The units are privately owned, so perhaps privately maintained and furnished, and t that may account for the wildly different reviews of units. Ours was great.

Great week away
I recently stayed at Le Chamois over the peak week of Presidents week and reading week in late February. Rite from when I started looking for a place to stay Le Chamois really stood out. From being a very competitive price for its location (especially over the week which I was staying) through to being able to have a full kitchen, Le chamois fit the bill perfectly. The room which I had chosen, 213, was excellent. Very spacious and superbly maintained, with all the modern finishing¿¿¿s mad it the perfect place to go relax after a hard day on the hill, and having the pool and hot tub on the same floor was a bonus.I would defiantly recommend this location and specifically this room to anyone who was looking for an excellent place to stay whilst skiing

Poor Quality Condo in prime Whistler location
This condo had exceedingly bad quality items, see attached photos, all of which should have been cleared before checking guests into the condo. The issues wereCurtains/nets unattachedLeaking taps in both the kitchen and bathroom areaDangerous electrics - broken, cracked and open electrics - where is the Canadian standards for safetyCrockery just pleased on top of the microwave, allowing waste products to taint the crockery and glasswareElectrical Fire, despite having instructions for use did not workPlus see other photos. When all these were issues were passed to management they had 2 arguements'1 We expect customers to inform us when things are wrong and we then correct it2 We (Whistler Retreats) have only recently taken over the management of this hotel, so bear with us.I think that most customers expect rooms to be checked for quality prior to letting, as we all go on holiday to holiday and not spend our time reporting issues on long standing quality and compliance issues which should be dealt with by the management. All the details were forwarded to the President of Whistler Retreats, Bryan Reimer, who never once called to appoligise for this shabby condo. The reception did indicate that he would do this in an e mail, and offer some recompense as they have all my details. This has not happened and whilst it is evident that some of the rooms in Le Chamois are good according to the other reviews, but this just goes to demonstrate that there is no consistency in what you are going to get, there are no quality checks and there is little focus on customer care in my experience and opinion
