Lovely location, walking distance to shops and tube. Nice modern reception area when you first walk in, but as you go upstairs it needs refurbishing and is outdated. Our room, non-smoking smelt of cigarettes and was tiny and dingy, but the guy on the front desk upgraded us and our room on 4th floor was lovely and had a huge bathroom and lovely comfy bed. We got completely stung on phone calls, we dialed a few local numbers for car hire and it cost $35 (27 pounds!!).

Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We were able to get an early check-in (10.30am). The standard check-out of noon is later than many hotels and meant we could have a leisurely morning. Room and reception are were spotlessly clean. I would stay here again.

We stayed here for two nights last Friday and Saturday having been recommended by the bride and groom of the wedding we were attending on Saturday.Checking in was a farce as we were handed the key card and told to go to one room then suddenly we were told oh you cant have that room someone else has been given it so were given room 566 up in the attics!!. Having found the room via a maze of stairs and lift we found the room but the key card would not work as it had been told it was for the other room so husband had to go all the way back down to reception to get it sorted out. I sat and waited for him to come back and was asked by a housekeeper why I was there..told her the story but because our surname did not match the name on her list as THEY had changed our room over she could not let me in so I had to sit on a stairway waiting for husband to come back!People from our party were finding that even though they said you could check in from 2 rooms were either not cleaned yet or they had been allocated to someone else! Total terrible organisation.Our room was very very small. We had booked a standard double room which overlooked the back via a small window making this room very dark. The decor was okay as was the linen but the room just didnt look clean and it smelled very musty.There is no booklet in the room telling you any information about the hotel or guidance at all which I thought was extremely lacking. The walls needed a lick of paint as they had some very odd looking stains! The hanging space in the wardrobe was very limited as they had put what actually was very handy a little safe in their for your belongings but don't expect to be able to hang much stuff.The bath room was disgusting! The floor actually slopped upwards. The toilet brush was disgusting and when used smelt like rotton eggs!...horrible! The bath was very chipped and one cursory bottle of shower stuff and a small bar of soap was all the toiletries they offered.To make it worse it the expelair didnt work so all the steam and inevitable odours from the bathroom just hand around in the room! Not great!!!!Breakfast was an extra and at ¿¿12 each on top of the room rate made this a very costly hotel. The breakfast was the usual fare but the dining room was shabby with horrible marked tables with no tablecloths!We have stayed at many hotels and how this one can be called a 4 star I don't know.The reception staff were friendly, the breakfast staff in the dining room on the first morning were grumpy, better on the second morning (different staff)This hotel makes its money on its location to Richmond Park nothing else.You actually do not mind paying if you are getting what you should be but sadly in my opinion this hotel is sadly lacking on all fronts.The rest of the wedding guests were all equally very disappointed with their stays and many conversations overheard were groans about the rooms etc.Would we stay here again...no...there are many other hotels that are far worthy of your hard earned cash!

I stayed here recently and was very impressed. I had an excellent room, really luxurious, very good breakfast and the staff were courteous and helpful. This was a very pleasant surprise and I was delighted by the location and facilities. I would stay here again.

I booked this hotel at the last minute for a 2 night week end stay and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the services offered, beautiful location with a view across the river and just a stone throw from Richmond park. The staff is extremely helpful and welcoming. The room was a Little on the small side but having booked at the very last minute, I can not complain. I guess other rooms are bigger... The only thing that let the hotel down in my view is the noise level: my room was not very well insulated, you could hear everything in the next door rooms and the corridor. That said I would definitely stay again but ask for a more quiet room.
