We stayed here on our round trip in South West WA. It is an ideal location if you are driving from Margaret River to Denmark/Albany.This place is simply stunning. Not because it is a luxury "Resort" with all the bells and whistles with a top notch service. On the contrary, for the lack of it. Relaxed, is what it is. Everything about this place is calling for you to slow down. You wake to the forest mist and as it eases beautiful greens and calm welcome you. Many reviewers have mentioned rooms and service. Our experience was on par with most of them. I will just repeat to emphasize. Rooms are clean and serves the purpose. Agree with one reviewer that it is more a B&B than a"hotel" let alone a "resort". We did not care, slept well and woke up energized! You will forget everything once you take a short walk around the estate. It was a one night stopover for us so served the purpose well. No dinner served at location, but reception gives you a handout about available options. If you ask about dining options later, you will be reminded that you were given a handout, so do go through it first! :) Pemberton is only a short drive away (2km's I believe) so no worries there. We attempted to dine in a place called Shamrock, and I will review it separately. What a joke it was. Anyway let's not spoil Forest Lodge review.The staff are helpful and "politically correct" to the point. We did not feel specially welcomed but being pampered with fake smiles was the last thing we were looking for in this trip so the relaxed and honest support from the staff went down well. Generous breakfast is a plus. We are a large family and consumed relatively more than everyone else and that was kindly reminded by the receptionist / maitre d'hotel via seemingly gentle question asking if "..we could have enough?" :) The attempts to keep running costs down for that tiny bit of margin has a potential to make you look cheap, one has to be aware. A separate note on the cost of accommodation in this part of the world. There seems to be no relevance between what you pay and what you get. We stayed in five star Pullman Resort (a proper resort not a name game) for 250 AUD a night (with no breakfast) and paid Forest Lodge a hefty 185 AUD for the night (breakfast included). If a five star resort is charging you 250 a B&B should be around 50 AUD no? Also, our next stop, Windrose B&B, was a proper B&B that called itself what it is and was perfect in every sense of the word and charged us 150 AUD (an excellent breakfast included). I know the cost of living index, cost of running a business, average income per capita etc etc. all play a role in this but who is this not fair against I am not sure. Either the B&B's are living on very good margins or the luxury accommodation providers are operating at cost price. Could you please share your opinions on this?I know I have let my other comments, hijack this. Thank you for bearing with me. Let's go back to the point, All the above points considered we would come back to Forest Lodge and recommend it to friends.

Beautifully appointed rooms; loved the large showerhead! Great breakfast. Service was very good. Great scenery around the property. Quiet location. Only two gripes - as with most king beds in motels/hotels it was too hard. The wall's are rather thin, so the antics of the neighbors are all too audible! Very close to Pemberton.I would recommend the property.

The Lodge is located in the woods just off the main road 2 kms from Pemberton, and the grounds were lovely. We stayed here for 1 night to explore the region on the way from Margaret River to Albany. We had a self-contained room in the main building, and this had everything we needed including a WC and ensuite bathroom with shower over the bath, butane would say it was really in need of updating. Everything was clean but the bed was hard and we did have a little difficulty getting off to sleep. Coffee was available (AUD3.00) if required. There was no restaurant but our host was happy to recommend places in the town. Breakfast is served in the main building and has a very comprehensive continental selection, plus hot foods cooked to order from the kitchen. The accent was on making sure we had enough!In the morning our host spread birdseed on the veranda outside the breakfast room, and we had a front row seat as marsh hens, parrots, lorikeets etc came down to feed a few feet away!

This hotel is 2km out of town and in wonderful surroundings. The park has a small lake and guests can wander around the property. Parrots (which are fed twice each day by the owner), birds and wild life can be seen. Our room was large and the bathroom with an en suite toilet was comfortable and clean. As no dinner is served in this hotel we bought some food from the local supermarket in town and made use of the microwave oven, plates, cutlery and glasses that were available and ate our dinner outside our room in the sunshine! The owner sells wine so that our dinner could be washed down with a good bottle of Australian wine.Breakfast, which can be eaten either in the well kept dining room or on the terrace facing the lake, is extremely big and excellent and is satisfying for the rest of the day.The hosts are extremely friendly and polite.

stayed here oct 2012, had an excellent time, fantastic setting, room was great had a bathroom wet room style with a spa. Breakfast buffet was very good, loved eating outside with all the native animals and the peacocks. would definately stay again.
