Absolute Bliss !!!!
We recently had our wedding at Castaways Resort & Spa. We spent almost $15k and stayed for a week. Jess the wedding coordinator was amazing, very easy to talk to and understood our every request. The Head Chef Karl was very accommodating especially for some of our dietary requirements with guests. The food was amazing, the most popular being the lime and chili banana leaf wrapped fish, also the pumpkin salad.We remember Castaways from many years ago, and the improvements with both decor and service are very impressive, especially considering it has only 2 years ago survived cyclone yasi.The staff are so friendly and helpful and we and many of our friends and family love the place.Highly, highly recommend it :)

Very disappointing birthday evening
Big birthday celebration gone totally wrong. Uncooked prawns, bland bruschetta, cold steak, burnt paella, chocolate fondants with no chocolate inside. And a nice big bill to pay for inedible meals . Only positive, the waitresses very nice.

Mini Getaway
We found our room to be comfortable and clean with an amazing view. The full moon helped a lot. The food was great fresh and plenty of it.Thank you for a lovely night.Breakfast was great both of us enjoyed it.

Bad Customer Service
For the first time in 17 years my husband and I got away without our three children to celebrate my 40th. I was so disappointed in the quality of food but mostly the Customer Service. We ordered cocktails in the afternoon and it took about 20 minutes for mine to come. On the second round they did not even bother to bring our cocktails to our table just left it on the bar with no communcation to us that the drinks were ready. We ordered Oyster Kilpatrick for nibbles before dinner and we got served the oyster's it was oyster with tomato sauce that's it!!Very disappointing experience all round , we won't be going back.Jane

Wouldn't want to stay more than one night
We stopped over here driving from Airlie Beach to Port Douglas it was a good place to stop because you are 3/4 of the way there. I will say the positives were the great service, the staff were very helpful and the restaurant had delicious food. We had included in our accommodation a continental breakfast which was really good start to the day. Pretty cool that you can walk straight out your front door onto the grass/beach BUT on a negative the room was a box for around the $200 mark and the room was really damp (think mould on the ceiling where the air-conditioning unit came out you see it when you lie in bed and then can't stop looking at it), the bathroom wasn't that flash either(shower had awesome pressure though). The rooms definitely have potential to be nice but feel pretty ripped off for what you get. Were kind of disappointed because we booked it after reading reviews on here, maybe an upstairs room would be ok?
