Can I give it six stars?
I can not fault this place! To start with we had a garden room with the full package which I have to say was worth every cent. Afternoon drinks and nibbles were met with eager anticipation every day as Jeanette could give any chef a run for their money - the food was outstanding but 4 nights was not enough! Steve was wonderful to talk too providing excellent information ( and G&T top ups) about the area. If you want the best then this is the place, just beware the breakfast is better than ANY place I have stayed at.

A Slice of Heaven
This place is a haven away from home. It is understated but hosts Steve & Jeanette can help with most requirements. You feel like you're a welcome guest in a private home, while having total privacy when you choose.Jeanette is a fabulous cook & her breakfasts are truly gourmet.I can thoroughly recommend this gem, I'd be very surprised if anyone leaves disappointed.

Wonderful stay, spectacular breakfasts
My husband and I had booked a romantic night at the Arrowtown House and were not disappointed in anything. The check in was very friendly, Steve showed us to our room and was very helpful in getting us settled in. There was lovely homemade banana bread in our room to greet us, very tasty.The room itself was excellent. It was very spacious, nicely decorated and well equipped. We had some large sliding doors to a private sitting area and garden, an indoor sitting area with comfortable high backed chairs, a small table and chairs, a lovely large bed and big bathroom. There was even a laundry facility in a cupboard. The mini bar area is nicely stocked with coffee, tea and a selection of drinks, jug and even microwave. The fluffy robes were welcome for lounging around in.My Kobo ran out of puff just after we arrived but along with a stock of DVD's there was a handy shelf of books to choose from as well. Also a platter of fresh fruit in the common area outside the guest rooms for a tasty snack.We were provided with pre-dinner drinks and nibbles and had a lovely sit down with our fellow guests and hosts. This is the part of boutique hotel/B & B stays that I really enjoy, a chance to unwind and enjoy the company of interesting people. The nibbles were very tasty and well presented. The hotel is within walking distance to Arrowtown, handy to the restaurants and shops. No worries about a designated driver!We had a very comfortable and quiet sleep, there is no traffic or "hotel" noise, just peace.The next morning we arrived into the dining area for breakfast and were presented with a blackboard menu with several lovely sounding options. We both had the warmed stonefruit with honey glaze. I followed with scrambled eggs with herbs, ham and cheese and my husband had an omlette. Everything was extremely tasty as well as beautifully presented. The coffee was excellent, fresh ground and fresh made. The choux pastry with raspberries inside was a nice little extra, gorgeous!All in all I would highly recommend this place for very personalised service and very comfortable lodgings.

Practically faultless
This is true luxury. A wonderful, spacious, sumptiously decorated room with excellent facilities and lots of FOC extras in a quiet location. Breakfast was a true gourmet experience - at your leisure - with wonderful cakes/cookies provided to your room and an unusual but excellent aperitif hour at 18.00 where Steve and Jeanette provide cocktails with canapes in an informal, 45 minute 'meet your fellow guests' setting. A short walk from there to a surfeit of restaurants and eateries and a short drive to Queentown.

Just About Perfect
The Arrowtown House Boutique Hotel is just about perfect. Steve & Jeanette are hotel and restaurant pros who combine extraordinary attention to detail with a warm, welcoming generosity.We stayed here for two nights at the end of a ten day, 1,000 km bicycle tour of the South Island. It was the ideal finishing point: Queenstown-- for all of its "action"-- would have been simply too busy, too crowded and too noisy. Arrowtown, on the other had, is absolutely charming, quiet and beautiful.The accommodations are excellent and the dining is superb. Breakfast is gorgeous-- fresh, homemade baked goods, freshly squeezed juice, elegantly prepared main courses. Wow. Plus, every evening there is a cocktail party for the guests with beautiful hors d'oeuvres and complimentary drinks. Nice.We hope to be so lucky to be able to return some day.
