Great looking design hotel which is let down by poor food and remote location
The super minimal design of this hotel is really great, the reception area really impresses and sets the expectation high. We stayed here for three nights and walked around getting lost in the vast corridors made up by walls of rocks with well thought-out lighting for hours the first evening, admiring the sheer size of of both the public spaces and our room. Concrete, stone, black paint and a bit of wood is the name of the game here with over-sized doorways and ceiling-hight of epic proportion (and the rain shower is a nice touch too). The two swimming pools are both nice and the private beach is great although it was not recommended to swim in the sea when we were there because of jellyfish. The service was also great and this hotel would have easily gotten a higher rating wasn't it for the terrible food. The inclusive breakfast buffet was fine but order anything from the menu and you are sure to be disappointed. The first night I ordered a medium-rare ostrich dish with red-wine sauce which was so tough and chewy it was almost impossible to cut through, and the sauce was absolutely foul tasting. Ordering less advanced dishes such as the Kitchen Burger or Pizza also disappointed hugely with everything under-seasoned and over-cooked. My Thai companion ordered a range of different Thai dishes from the menu throughout our stay here but they were also terribly disappointing, for example the Paneang Duck Curry arrived with nothing but slices of undercooked duck on a plate with a thin layer of sauce underneath and had absolutely nothing to do with a Paneang Curry. If a 'fusion' dish was the goal here then that should have been stated in the menu but even so it would have been hugely disappointing. Normally I would have left the hotel grounds to have lunch and dinner somewhere else if I was not happy with what the hotel has to offer but the remote location of Hotel De La Paix makes this impossible. The hotel will drive guests to Hua Hin every day at 5pm in a mini-van (which takes 40 mins) and back again at 9pm so that's always an option but you can forget about finding your own transportation to or from the hotel due to its very remote location, there literally is nothing anywhere near here. Conclusion: A great looking hotel which is let down by the terrible food and awkward location, stay here for more than one night only if you have your own car or bring your own food!

Excellent hotel with amazing architecture
We stayed there for two days and my experience was nothing less than amazing. I used Google map to find the hotel and it was not that difficult to get there(I was driving ).Very fast check and check out, extremely friendly and helpful staff. our room was on the ground floor and had a small garden which it was not that private but the room itself was beautiful with very high ceiling, the rain shower was amazing.Sound system was also very nice to make a good ambiance although the choice of music was not that much. But all and all one of the best hotels I have stayed in Thailand. I will definitely will go back.

Wow what a holiday :-)
Having visited many places in Thailand I found all the positives in one place with this holiday. cha am was quiet with the bustle of Hua Hin 20 mins shuttle bus away. We usually stay in the centre when We travel I am so glad I broke with tradition when booking to stay at Hotel De La Paix. From the moment we arrived to when we departed 10 days later the holiday was 5 star all the way. The rooms were unique from the general lay out, space in rooms high ceilings to the rain shower in a wet room setting. Air Con top class and boy do you need it in April. The food was amazing from the general menu to organised BBQ through to the Songkrad Thai New Year celebration buffet tastes were out of this world and a credit to David and his team. I am a fussy eater and I can't find fault at all just plaudits and positives. The big difference to me was the staff and the smiles. Thailand does this so well but the staff take it too another level. Such poise, such grace such charm I could run through the names and never stop. From Pak at the spa and the yoga, to Lek who graces breakfast so beautifully each day whilst organising events at the hotel. A special mention goes to Chit who in 35 - 40 c each day kept you cool each day with water, juice and a smile down at the beach. I have read other reviews that have been left and I do not see the negatives left but that is my experience. Sharing a chat during the day with Nigel, Warren and David was great. Sharing the Thai New Year with them and seeing how they interact with the staff was an experience that will stay in the memory for a long time. Watching the water activities and seeing Pooh try to throw Chart in well our eyes were wet with tears of laughter. It bought back memories of enter the dragon where good old Bruce Lee was in his prime. Experience and fond memories is what makes a holiday and all at De La Paix I thank you for ours and look forwards having more in the near future.Next time though I will book direct and chat to Wad in the ¿¿reservation team directly :-)

It's worth the traveling
hidden away in Cha Am, this is a chic designer resort which I have been returning for the 3rd time. It was Alila before but the new owner certainly kept up the good work. Food headed by the Chef David is absolutely amazing. Chill pool is prohibits children which kept away the noisiness of them screaming / shouting and splashing of water. Spa is great and reasonably priced. Rooms are spacious and cool with the apple TV. Unfortunately my remote didn't work well which management should be following up on these details. Beach isn't the greatest because of the side of the island, maybe rough at times and don't recommend for a dip. don't expect much nightlife because it's not easy to go out to the nearest nightspot. I would definately return.

An intimate, stylish boutique hotel with dedicated staff who really know how to provide the very best customer service!!
Having spent many years working the hotel and leisure industry, I'm not one for writing reviews on hotels, merely as trips are so much like a "busman's holiday" that I am too often inclined to pick fault unfairly. However, having just returned from two fabulous weeks at the Hotel de la Paix, I, for once, felt compelled to share my opinions on Tripadvisor. Prior to my arrival I had emailed the hotel asking for a specific room type as well as a late check out which were both confirmed immediately by email and then verified and agreed during the swift checking in process. We were walked to our room (333) with all the features and tech that are provided as standard explained, as well as all the facilities of the hotel highlighted en route. The hotel is a little isolated, which suited us perfectly, but close enough to Cha Am beach if you wanted a change of scenery to challenge your palate to the spice of the local eateries. If you don't want to venture out you will not be disappointed by the food options on offer at the hotel and we ate in all restaurants which, although obviously more expensive than a local restaurant on the beach, offered a superb choice and quality of cuisine. The service that ALL the staff offer is exceptional and really sets this hotel apart from the competition. The breakfast team very quickly learnt our drink and food preferences, even down to knowing at what stage we wanted our coffee or orange juice to be refilled and when we wanted a Latte to round it all off. The restaurant team in the evening too were faultless, offering an unobtrusive yet friendly and caring attention to the highest detail. When we went out of the resort on a couple of evenings , the team at reception always wished us a pleasant evening and, on collection, the hotel minibus driver always asked if we had enjoyed our dinner. Such effortless attention, warm smiles and genuine interest in the customer was an absolute joy and every single one is a credit to Nigel and his management team. One special mention is necessary about our stay and that is directed to Joe, the Concierge. He went out of his way to ensure that we enjoyed every minute of our stay and was always keen to talk and ask if there was anything that he could do, or advice he could offer, to enhance our time at the hotel and the surrounding area. When we, and another couple, wanted to take a sightseeing trip, we were disappointed to find out that we would be unable to partake in our preferred choice, though this was purely down to our own disorganised last minute efforts of booking for the following day, which was also our last. On seeing our disappointment, Joe went away and organised the tour himself for us, utilising the hotel minibus and driver for the day, sourcing a suitable guide, as he felt his own knowledge wasn't up to scratch, and he too joined us on the trip the following day. The trip was excellent - elephant riding and a visit to see the Big Buddha in the morning, followed by lunch and a venture up the Pala U waterfall in the afternoon. Even here the thoughts of the customer were always at the forefront, with Joe organising for some iced towels and water to be brought along, as some respite to the oppressive heat of the day. I would even suggest that if he could have found a way to do so, Joe would have organised for the wild elephant, that we saw at the side of the ride on our return from the waterfall, just to round off the perfect day. So to Nigel, Joe and all the team at the Hotel de la Paix - thank you so much for a wonderful two weeks and we truly do hope to have the opportunity to come back soon.
