Awful..Food poisoning from breakfast, run down and loud construction works
This is an awful place to stay and was almost unbearable. The rooms are old and run down, no TV's at all, no air conditioning, wildlife in the toilets, and there was construction going on outside our room every day. The buffet breakfast is extremely unhygenic... food left out with flies on it, and I actually got very bad food poisoning after my first day at this hotel. Really disappointed.

Beautiful lush setting
This hotel was a very nice place to stay. It is quite a traditional place located in lush green and has a river and waterfall. Ubud fab place to stay to get away from it all. The staff didnt speak alot of english but most were friendly. There are alot of uneven stairs to get around so not good for elderly, bad knees etc. wifi only in reception area. Rooms very clean. Food ok not much choice. Pools nice not heated. Spa treatments ok but beautiful surroundings! not far to markets and cafes. We enjoyed our stay here.

Jungle lodge style close to center
it is old and styled hotel in tropical rainy forest type that remember me African safari lodges ,good and impressed view to river and jungle even when we saw heavy rain you can enjoy ofatmosphere of this ecosystem , leaning to your chair in balcony or your bed with wide windowsand watch the nature , we visited many rooms of this hotel to choose the best , each room has some positive and negative points , for example Banyan rooms that recommended with many other advisor in my opinion has best view and 2 double bed ! one in royal model ! but has wooden roof that nesting many insect include lizards and more closing to river and forest let moreinsect to come to your room , if you feel problem with those you can choose upper room with castroof and you don`t see insects , and if take room behind reception they have remodeled bath room , higher position on the hill with more privacy , pool view , with out stairs , smaller space .there are many Mr. Goosti in the hotel I thank all them especially great Goosti !

A little slice of heaven!
Arriving at Hotel Tjampuhan I immediately felt relaxed. Greeted with an ice cold pink rice wine and a cool towel by the smiling staff, then shown to our room. Our room was a "Pura" room about halfway down the hill near the main pool - it was perfect! The only modern appliance in the room was the air-conditioner, otherwise the room had a rustic charm with heavy doors with wooden slide locks. The spa was heavenly and we spent hours in the hot/cold plunge pools, sauna and steam rooms detoxifying. The restaurant service is wonderful & the food was delicious. It is about a 10 minute walk into town across a lovely little bridge and there are interesting shops along the way. We only stayed 2 nights but it was a great introduction to Ubud and I will definitely be staying here again someday.

It's Bali, it's Asia, We love it, If you don't embrace the different life, stay home
To all those who have written a negative reveiw may I suggest you go to the hilton or marriot or whatever hotels in future,this is Asia!What do you expect, Dubai? We thought this place was fabulous, a wonderful hillside setting , it is old but that's part of the attraction, and the staff were great.There are the usual lizards and bugs outside but that is part of the deal of being in the tropics, they don't invade your room.Highly reccomended.Although the only thing is the wi-fi is really, really slow, and we did stay at 2 other places before and after in Bali and no problems, so not our devices.John & Cathy5 days from 28/4/13
