Convenient
We stayed just one night, staying on the 4th floor Grey Street side wasnt too noisy.Staff are all very young but pleasant and courteous.Breakfast had a nice selection, fresh and always topped up by efficient staff.Negatives - the pillows were very uncomfortable, and car parking is valet parking &trying to find a park in front of the Hotel to book in was difficult with Saturday night traffic.We would stay stay again, its convenient to the Convention Centre.

Decidedly average, I won't be back
I stayed here for 3 nights for a Conference and can't say I was overly impressed, especially with the service and housekeeping. Staff were not overly helpful and not particularly friendly.Upon checking in I was directed to my room on the 6th floor which overlooked a train line. The room was pleasant but very noisy. I find it unfathomable that a hotel could be built on a train line without some attempt at sound proofing. My request for a room change was accommodated, albeit somewhat begrudgingly. I was directed to a room which was on a lower floor and far less pleasantly furnished but was on the other side of the building and so was far quieter.The room was perfectly acceptable for conference accommodation but the furnishings were somewhat worn and tired. The room had a kitchenette and laundry facilities and was a good size.Housekeeping were in the middle of cleaning the room that I was switched to so I will put the exceptionally poor state of cleanliness down to them rushing to accommodate me. I had to ask for housekeeping to return to clean the bathroom which was covered in a previous guest's hair. Not pleasant. Given the hotel is next to a conference venue it's disappointing that wifi is charged at what can only be described as exploitative rates. In addition, the rates advertised were completely wrong. I had an important presentation to work on and paid the advertised rate for 2 hours unlimited internet which turned out to be far from unlimited and lasted just 15 minutes. I then spent a good hour trying to sort internet issues out with the IT help desk they outsource to...not a great experience. I would personally not choose to stay here again but it's acceptable accommodation from a conference perspective assuming they improve housekeeping issues. The hotel is well located for the Convention Centre and Southbank.

Great
We stayed in a studio for a conference and I was surprised of the great service and friendly staff. Room was tidy , comfortable beds and great breakfast.3 min walk to the exhibition centre and 25 min walk to suncorp stadium. We combined the weekend with a NRL game which was great. Definitely great value for money paid.

Perfect location
I stayed here for 3 nights in between my new house being ready for me to move in. Initially I was annoyed that the movies on demand didn't work (as I had nothing else to do for several days) but this hotel really takes customer service seriously! The problem was resolved very quickly, the staff are young (which usually worries me) but they are very well trained and very good at what they do! The hotel is new and in a fantastic position. A few annoying points... the buffet breakfast is mediocre (there are many options in a minute walk instead), a steak I ordered from room service medium turned up well done, I had the door 'switch' turned to privacy on Saturday but was still opened by someone from housekeeping (the lady on Sunday was wonderful) and because of the position it can be noisy on weekends. Walk to the theatre, shops or many restaurants. I will be back without question.

Great location and clean, spacious room
We have never stayed at a Mantra hotel before. We usually stay at Rydges across the road but got a great deal for Mantra on Wotif. Even being a member of the Rydges Club and getting discounted room rates, it was still much more expensive than the deal we got for Mantra. Reception staff were very friendly and check in process was smooth and fast. We had a studio room on the 3rd floor overlooking Grey Street rather than the other side over train lines that so many reviewers have complained about - maybe we were just very lucky!! The room was very spacious with a lounge area (2 couches), a king sized bed and decent sized bathroom. The TV could be considered a bit on the small size compared to the size of the room but didn't really bother us. Our deal included valet parking and buffet breakfast for 2. Parking around the Southbank area can be tricky and there wasn't actually anywhere to pull up outside the hotel for valet parking but check in was so quick it didn't really matter that we had to briefly park in a turning lane!! We really couldn't complain about the quality and choice of the buffet for breakfast - we thought it was fantastic with lots to choose from. We did notice though that the restaurant filled up quite quickly not long after we got there and it looked like some guests had to wait for a table to become available. Overall we were really impressed with the hotel as a whole. When reading other reviews on Trip Advisor I do sometimes feel that some of the people who complain, seem to be customers who are VERY hard to please and seem eager to find fault with everything! We would definitely recommend Mantra SouthBank and look forward to staying there again.
