OK but thats it
This is one of those hotels thats ok for one night, if you are on a training course but does nothing exceptional and dosent really try to. The staff are friendly but you never see the same face twice. The food is poor and the attension to detail with regards to cleanliness is just not there. It has that busy macdonalds "sticky" feel to it. The rooms are ok and do the job but thats it.

Company conference package
Well, this was the location for our annual company conference. Easy to find and quite a stunning sight upon the approach along the driveway. Beautifully surrounded by the golf course and a mix of period and modern accommodation the De Vere standard was apparent everywhere.We had a well organised registration process and the welcoming drinks and snacks as a start to a busy day were most welcome. The facilities were well organised for the needs of our conference presentation and things went very well. The buffet lunch provided was varied and well prepared and presented. A good selection for all tastes and plenty of it too. Later in the day we were able to check into our rooms which were split between the Mansion House and the newer hotel building. As mentioned by another reviewer I too was overwhelmed by the massive clock on the wall in the bathroom - but the room and the facilities were comfortable and well maintained.Our Gala dinner in the evening was catered for very well for such a large group and they managed to provide hot tasty food that wasn't stewed or dehydrated. The staff throughout the evening, and in fact the whole day were attentive and helpful with our many and varied requests. We were well looked after and even way into the early hours the staff remained cheerful and friendly. Hoping the powers that be in our company were equally impressed and will book again for the conference next year.

Tired and tatty
The website shows a beautiful Goergian mansion in rolling grounds. The reality is an ugly 70s or 80s build in need of significant attention.Only one of the windows in my room could be persuaded to open, the carpet in the corridors is worn and wrinkled. My bed sloped down hill on one side and the pull out bed underneath had some very unpleasant looking stains on it.The shower temperature fluctuated wildly and the whole place needs a lick of paint.The food is truly terrible, my room service BLT was very fatty and made with cheap bread. The attractive sounding pasta with tomato and basil was overcooked, sweet and gloopy, so unpleasant that I left most of it.I put a bottle and glass outside my room for collection at 11.30pm and it was still there at 6pm the following day.The milk at breakfast was most certainly past its best.The only reason I stayed here was that I was attending a conference. I will try very hard to avoid it in futureMore Woe Field than Wokefield.

Very good golf course for all handicaps & hotel had everything you needed
Had a very good 2 night stay and golf course was in very good condition (some very hard/challenging pin positions). Hotel was good and rooms were clean & had everything you needed. Only negative would be some of the staff took a long time to serve you when we ordered drinks at our table for dinner & at lunch the sandwich bread was stale. However breakfast & dinner the food was excellent.

Superb value for money
When Staying at a De Vere I always see ¿¿ signs, however I promotional deal came up for this hotel and I simply couldn't say no. Upon arrival the venue is surrounded by a golf course, numerous other facilities which upon checking in, only then did I comprehend the scale of this Venue. There was a map at reception which clearly outlined everything. The receptionist was very nice, informative, and she even changed my room to the main building where the pool was located.The Internet was lightning quick, free, which always ticks the box, and there were 2 Macs in reception for free use.The pool and gym were of a good standard, basic to cater for ones needs, the bar and food was very good and very good service. The breakfast was excellent for the price! I would certainly return to this Hotel again, and enjoyed my stay here very much!!! : )
