Rooms nice but not 'real Bali'
Stayed for two nights after a wonderful couple of weeks in different parts of Bali. We found Nusa Dua to be so artificial and made entirely for the tourists. Only go here if you don't want to learn anything about Bali and its culture! The hotel was nice and the room was cool, clean and the bed enormous. However, it is very expensive and there seem to be additional charges for absolutely everything. To use the internet is very expensive and their wifi is very slow and only works at the reception. The food is terrible and VERY expensive. The pool is nice and there are lots of sunbeds available. There are also lots of sunbeds on the beach. You can however only swim in the morning because by midday, the tide has gone out and it looks more like a rice paddy field. The restaurant is totally soul-less, the food is not great and it is very expensive for what it is. We found the whole place quite depressing but only because there is nothing of the real Bali about it. However, this is Nusa Dua in general. The announcement for water aerobics at 11.30 made it feel like a scene out of 50s Dirty Dancing 50s holiday camp!The staff were all very friendly though. It's not their fault after all...The BEST thing about this hotel was discovering Kendi Kuning, the restaurant just along the beach, the other side of the Melia Benoa hotel next door. Once we discovered this place, we went their 4 times in 3 days! Amazing food and location. Though I didn't like Nusa Dua, i would return their to go to this restaurant

not as good second time around.
Visited the Bali tropic for a second time in September 2012.Were greeted well and staff as friendly as ever.Hotel has definately deteriated.No cushions for the sun loungers, complained as did a lot of guests and because my wife suffers after breaking her back the staff set up our own sunbeds and cushions everyday. This is a nice touch but there should be enough to go round anyway.The hotel now seems to take a lot of corperate events, we suffered 7 days of around 150 French employees of Blanc colour. They took over everything, bar,pool,resurants. most of the other guests altered their eating and socialising around missing them.Enough complaining, this is still a nice hotel but we won't be going back as long as they cater for the corperate side, your in Bali not a modern events place full of rowdy rude people who drink too much and think because of their numbers they should take preference over everything.My tip would be contact the hotel and see if any events are on before you book.

Comfortable Stay but something missing
My husband & I stayed at the Bali Tropic for 8 days. The deluxe bungalow was very clean & tidy, however a little tired. Air conditioning is the saviour here!! The pool was clean but sometimes overcrowded with the bar closing at 6.00pm. Breakfast is fine with plenty of variety, however the 24 hour restaurant next to the pool is a big disappointment being expensive, small servings, always empty (soul less) & food very ordinary. Go up the beach to Kending Kunig (spelling?) is delicious & a beautiful location right on the beach.Grounds staff were very friendly, but don't bother phoning the front reception for service. We asked for a knife in our room but were told that would cost us for delivery from the kitchen, we also asked for a restaurant to be booked & were told to do it ourselves & it seemed a struggle for them to give us a phone number. (just didn't want to help)Security out the front excellent & a delight.Bali Tropical Resort is set in beautiful gardens with a lovely beach frontage, however there isn't a lot outside on the street with no walkways. There is massage place across the road which is much cheaper than the resort. All in all a really enjoyable stay but won't be returning.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 weeks while we were in Bali for our honeymoon. It was AMAZING!!! My family is from Indonesia and this was my first trip there. Our resort was wonderful. The staff was super friendly. Everyone always said hello to my husband and I.:) The landscaping was out of this world.. We literally felt like we were in the jungle. The food was always delicious.Two weeks flew by so fast there. We would definitely love to go back to Bali and if/when we do, we will definitely stay at Bali Tropic again.

Traditional Hotel some what let down at the beach front
We stayed Nov 2011 for 6 nights, food was basic but nice. Liked the traditional design of the hotel. Hotel would have benefitted from an air conditioned area to escape the heat or when eating in the evening. From our room we could hear the mopeds on the main road and the water toys at the beach. We were expecting paradise on the beach but was somewhat spoiled by the sheer mass of entertainment there (speed boats,parasailing, jet ski, etc) which seemed to be there all day from approx 9a.m till 4p.m
