Not a four star motel
I know there are not a lot of places to stay between Melbourne and Sydney, but I could not recommend Lincoln Downs. On the flip side, the Orbost motel in Orbost was a wonderful one-night stay.At a rate of $165 a night, one would expect the ability to get on to the Internet and an updated bathroom. Unfortunately, guests do not get these. We were not able to access the Internet in the evening or the next morning and could not, therefore, get restaurant suggestions, driving instructions, or suggestions on places to stop along the way, etc.In addition, the gym was in need of work. The elliptical was wobbly and really not useable and the treadmill had an unusually short walking strip leaving only a stationery bike and small weight machine.At best, Lincoln Downs is a 2.5 to 3 star motel.

Business in Bateman's
Stayed in Bateman's Bay for work over a few days. No time to enjoy the sights really but the stay at Lincoln Downs was very pleasant. Rooms were well laid out. Would have preferred an extra power outlet near the table. Restaurant was disappointing. Had dinner there just once but after that, dinners were had in town at the Boatshed. Even there they missed the oysters I ordered. Breakfast at the restaurant was quite ordinary. I'd return but not to eat there.

This motel is in a quiet location with a peaceful garden setting. It is a short distance feom some lovely beach walking areas. The rooms are large and seem to have been recently refurbished, including the bathroom. They were much better than I'd anticipated.Our main reason for staying here was the restaurant, which has quite a good reputation. It was a bit patchy on the night we were there. Service was good, and my main meal was delicious, but the entree and dessert were not great.I would stay here again though.

Average place
Northern side of town on the highway. Rooms at rear face a small lake amd are quiet. there are no verandas off the upstairs rooms which defeats the purpose of full sliding doors. we were given a non smokng room however the room directly below us had a smoker in it and the smoke drifted straight in through our door like we were smoking in the room...which was most unpleasant. We should have booked via wotif as the room rate was cheaper than walking in off th street. we were going to stay a second night but they decided to add another $20 to the rate thinking we would pay it out of convenience.we chose to checkout. We did not find the staff to friendly either. we would not return.

Mostly fine, if a bit expensive
Comfort Inn Lincoln Downs is a hotel that probably had its peak in the early 90s. It was fine, and mostly comfortable, although the rooms are starting to feel a bit tired. So, in general, kind of average to below average. The price was a bit steep for the low season, and for something that wasn't so spectacular, but all things considered nothing major to complain about.That said, I'd probably look elsewhere if I was staying in the area again. It wasn't good enough to make me feel as if I should stay there again.
