Old 1970s hotel, ideal for stopover for the Ferry
We stayed here for one night for stopover for the ferry the next morning. We arrived late into Athens airport and got the bus to Pireaus from exit number 3 - 4 at the airport. The bus costs 10 euro and we told the driver what stop we wanted however could not understand his shouting so we ended up going two stops further to Pireaus main square. We then got a taxi direct to the hotel which we felt safer as would not feel like walking with luggage in that area. The receptionist man was very friendly and welcoming. He advised us that they provide a shuttle bus to the port in the morning which was perfect for us so we got the shuttle bus at 6.15 after breakfast at 6 am. The bus was free and was ideal as we had a lot of luggage. The hotel has a very small 1970s lift which you can just about fit into with luggage. The hotel room was the smallest room I ever stayed in, it was clean and had A/C but the bed was like sleeping on a rock. There was a small television with a few Greek channels. The price was ¿¿¿30 for the two of us. Overall do not expect 5 star luxury, do not expect even 1 star luxury, its a place to lie before your trip on the ferry and for that it is sufficient enough for the night, not for any more than that.

"Good hotel close to Piraeus if traveling to islands".
Pros - close to Piraeus , good value for money , clean , good breakfast .Reception the young man and especially the oldest one were welcome and helpful. Thank you! Cons -they should make some small path near stairs for suitcases tourists could to drive up from entrance to the elevator not to carry their heavy luggage. The woman who worked that evening we arrived was not welcome just thanks to her attitude I put for service average instead of very good.

This place is a dump, would not stay here again
We arrived late one night from the islands and had to stay here before catching a flight the next day. We were a family of four staying in a quad paying 84 euros, and for that price range one would think that you can get something cleaner and newer. The room was old and run down, the staff couldn't even bother to lend a hand to help put a bag on their elevator, the TV wouldn't change channels, the AC was old. The area around the hotel was deserted at night, and similar to what other reviewer, we also were followed by a stray dog (not harmful but still...) and there was a camp of cats on one street. Compared to where we stayed on our arrival (Phidias Hotel), this was a dump and we would not stay here again. For this price range you are better off looking at other places as they could not be much worse. And note that it is walking distance from the port only in the sense that if you don't have any bags and just a backpack then yes one could walk it, but for the rest of us, you would need to take a taxi to get to your terminal.

Good value and does the trick
Piraeus is not a pretty place by night but if you put that aside, Argo hotel is totally fine for a night when catching a ferry. Steps away from the port and from the bus stop to the airport. Lots of retail activity nearby - very convenient to grab, fruits, coffee and fresh baked goodies for breakfast. Our room was not very well cleaned (some gross brown stains in the bathroom made one think of nasty things that may have happened there) but we arrived late and just crashed. Staff was helpful and polite.

A bit dicey - assess your travel needs closely
Stayed here for one night before grabbing a ferry out of the port. For that purpose, the hotel is sufficient: it's close to the port and cheap. I think we paid, approximately $25 each to stay here, which is roughly the cost of a youth hostel. If you put yourself in that frame-of-mind, this place is lovely because you have private bathrooms. Of course, the water was - at best - lukewarm, and the air conditioning was weak, but it was a 8 minute walk to the port with all of our luggage. Oh - and the Wifi worked wonderfully here! I should also say that the hotel staff were very warm and helpful.Be warned, however: I met-up with two friends who were, by the time I arrived later that night, fairly nervous to leave the room. (We stayed in a "triple," which was essentially a double bed with a cot next to it,... the room really wasn't equipped for this configuration, but - again - we only had to suffer through for a few hours.) I am a bit more adventurous and didn't think that the area was too dodgy, but when we left to grab some dinner, we were instantly surrounded by a roving pack of dogs and the streets were empty. Once we bumbled our way down to the Marina Zeas area, we felt safely back within civilization.
